North West Teams Up With Dad Kanye West for a New Song

North West is stepping further into the music world alongside her famous father. The 12-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian recently previewed a new rap collaboration with Ye titled “Piercing on My Hand (Ye’s version),” signaling her latest creative move and sparking immediate conversation online.

North shared a snippet of the track on her Instagram Stories, confidently delivering lines about style, fame and self-expression. In the teaser, she raps, “Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands,” before touching on blue hair, rings and wanting “more piercings and tats.” The lyrics feel intentionally bold and unapologetic, mirroring the aesthetic North has been leaning into across social media.

The preview arrived just days after North debuted a second finger dermal piercing, a choice that appeared to directly answer past criticism she has received online. According to Page Six, she showed off the new piercing in a photo posted to her Stories, followed shortly by a beat titled “Piercing on my hand hardstyle outro,” reinforcing that the moment was both personal and creative rather than accidental.

A Song That Mirrors Her Public Persona

In the track, North doesn’t shy away from addressing school, popularity and how she’s perceived. Lyrics like “Went to school for two days, then I got banned” and “You’re so angry that I’m so mainstream” hint at her awareness of public scrutiny and her comfort playing with that narrative. The delivery is confident, playful and very much in line with her growing public persona.

The release comes amid ongoing discussions around North’s fashion and beauty choices. Over the past year, she has been seen sporting blue hair, grillz, fake tattoos and facial piercings, often igniting debate online. Earlier this month, she also shared photos featuring a temporary bridge piercing on her nose. Shortly after, her Instagram account was briefly taken down, either by the platform or by her parents, per Page Six.

Despite the noise, Kim Kardashian has repeatedly defended her daughter’s self-expression. In a past appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kardashian acknowledged how challenging it can be to guide individuality while raising kids in the public eye, especially when experimentation plays out on such a large stage.

A Growing Musical Resume at Just 12

While the new Ye collaboration is grabbing headlines, it’s far from North’s first musical moment. According to Billboard, she has quietly built an impressive list of credits over the past year. In 2025, she appeared on FKA twigs’ “Childlike Things,” performing in Japanese. She also featured on “Lonely Roads,” a Ye-produced track from King Combs’ Never Stop EP, alongside Jaas.

North has also stepped behind the scenes. She recently revealed that she produced “Justswagup,” a collaboration between Mag!c and Lil Novi, the son of Lil Wayne. In 2024, she officially became a Billboard Hot 100-charting artist after appearing on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Talking,” which peaked at No. 30.

As North continues experimenting with music, fashion and identity, “Piercing on My Hand (Ye’s version)” feels less like a novelty moment and more like a statement. Whether fans see it as playful or provocative, one thing is clear: North West is finding her voice and she’s not afraid to use it.
