Kim Kardashian has been incredibly supportive of her 12-year-old daughter North West, as she follows in her rapper father Kanye West’s footsteps and explores a music career.
On Feb. 6, Complex reported that North dropped her debut single, which she produced herself, titled “Piercing on My Hand.” The song addresses online haters criticizing her decision to get several dermal piercings on her hand, a choice that has sparked major debate about Kardashian’s parenting approach.
Despite the criticism, the Skims founder continues to support her eldest child, even sharing a clip of herself proudly listening to North’s single on the radio.
Kim Kardashian Shares Clip Listening to 12-Year-Old North West on the Radio
Kim Kardashian is one proud mom, sharing a video of her daughter, North West’s debut single, “Piercing on My Hand,” on the radio.
According to People, Kim took to Instagram Stories on Feb. 16, where she shared a video of her car radio playing North’s single on SiriusXM’s The Heat. North’s new song is a bold response to all the attention she’s received for showing off multiple dermal piercings on both hands.
“Piercing on my hand, the other holdin’ bands / No friends, just fans, you wouldn’t understand / Shoppin’ in Japan, that’s where I always stand / Went to school for two days, then I got banned,” the lyrics read.
The song continues, “You are so angry that I’m so mainstream / Dissed her once, now she wanna replace me / I want more piercings and tats / I love blue hair, put it in some plaques.”
Kim has addressed the public backlash over her daughter’s decision to express herself with piercings, which also include a few on her face. Speaking on her sister, Khloe Kardashian’s “Khloe in Wonder Land,” podcast, Kim explained, “The one misconception that people might have is like, ‘Oh, she’s trying to be her bestie and let’s her get away with a lot.'”
“No, Northie actually has a lot of rules. The one area is I do let her express herself. I love her for that,” she added.
Kardashian Files Multiple Trademarks for North
GettyIt seems like North is gearing up to expand beyond music. People reports that Kim filed three trademarks for the brand name, “NOR11,” covering clothing and accessories. This move makes perfect sense, as the 12-year-old has already shown a flair for fashion, often expressing herself in bold, trend-forward looks.
When Kim spoke with Complex Style about North’s fashion influence, she shared, “She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like, she just loves what she loves. And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much.”
Speaking out about North’s more tomboy style, the mom of four shared, “She tried it for like a good week to be like, girly or wear what her friends were wearing. And then she realized, quick, like, this isn’t me, and I love that for her.”
