Ted Kotcheff’s dark slapstick comedy “Weekend at Bernie’s” is one of the most memorable movies of the 1980s.
It’s about two young low-level financial employees who uncover fraudulent activity at the insurance company they work for. Upon informing their boss, Bernie Lomax, he commends them and invites them to spend Labor Day weekend with him at his beach house in The Hamptons in Suffolk County, New York.
Upon their arrival, they find Bernie dead. They spend the weekend attempting to convince people that Bernie is still alive — with hilarious consequences — until they can leave, to prevent them from being falsely suspected of his murder.
However, over the course of the weekend, they discover that Bernie had, in fact, ordered their killing to cover up his part in the fraudulent activity they uncovered.
It stars Andrew McCarthy, Jonathan Silverman, Catherine Mary Stewart, and Terry Kiser as Bernie.
Released on July 5, 1989, “Weekend at Bernie’s” turns 37 this year. So what do the cast look like now compared to when the movie hit theaters? Let’s find out…

It’s great to see the cast of “Weekend at Bernie’s” looking so well.
The movie didn’t receive the best critical reception when it was released, but it has aged well and developed something of a cult following.
If it’s a silly movie with physical comedy you’re looking for, you could do a lot worse than revisit it.
