Piers Morgan shared a selfie from his hospital bed on Sunday, January 18, 2026 after an accident sent him to surgery. The A-lister was dressed in a hospital gown and wore a serious expression, but gave the camera a thumbs up.
The British talk show host and outspoken media personality humorously wrote, “BREAKING NEWS” before explaining that he tripped on a small step in a London hotel restaurant. He says he fractured his femur so badly he needed a new hip, and that he’s now recovering in the hospital. The 60-year-old says he will be on crutches for 6 weeks, and has to avoid long-hauls for 12. After telling his fans what happened, he joked, “New year off to a cracking start!”
He included a photo of the x-ray showing his broken bone.
Piers Morgan Went on Vacation the Week Before His Accident
On January 5, Morgan revealed he was enjoying a favorite movie while on vacation with his sons. He wrote on Instagram, “A vacation rite of passage: watching Fever Pitch with my Arsenal-mad sons.
In 1989, when the movie based on Nick Hornby’s brilliant book is set, we were top of the League after Christmas, and after a few wobbles we went to Liverpool and beat them 2-0 in their own backyard to be Champions for the first time in 18 years.
Now we’re top of the League after Christmas again, and we haven’t been Champions for 21 years.
The parallels are obvious.
There will be a few wobbles but the trophy’s coming home, and when it does, I confidently predict my sons and I will behave in even more demented fashion than Colin Firth and Mark Strong in this clip.”
The U.S. Sun says Morgan welcomed his three sons, Spencer, Stanley and Albert, with his first wife Marion Shalloe.
He shares one daughter, Elise, with his current wife, Celia Walden.
Piers Morgan Recently Interviewed Sharon Osbourne About the Late Ozzy Osbourne
In a clip published December 10, Sharon Osbourne revealed Ozzy was told his final show would be fatal. She said, “The main doctor said to him, ‘If you do this show, that’s it. You’re not gonna get through it.’ He didn’t wanna die on stage, he didn’t. But he did it his way. It was like I was in a dream, I was looking down on it all. My kids could see and feel just how much their father was loved. Just overwhelmingly warm, going back to your hometown where you’re really loved.”
She said she received a letter of sympathy from King Charles the day after Ozzy’s death, and reflected, “He got Ozzy.” Sharon then mused to Morgan, “They need to create new words for it, the feeling of loss. Grief is now my friend.”
