Singer and actress Hilary Duff is riding high off the success of her newest album, “Luck… Or Something,” which was released on February 20. However, during a recent interview with Drew Barrymore, she opened up about her bittersweet memory of Cameron Diaz helping her family amid the 2025 Palisades wildfires.
For context, Duff was not among the several who lost their home in the disastrous wildfires of 2025. However, she and her family, including her husband, Matthew Koma, and four children, were forced to evacuate.
Hilary Duff Says Cameron Diaz Extended Her Home Amid the Wildfires
GettyDuff appeared on the March 3 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show” to promote “Luck… Or Something.” During the episode, she shared that she and her family stayed with Diaz and her husband, Benji Madden, during their evacuation period. However, Duff admitted that she and her husband, Koma, had gotten into a tiff during their stay due to the heightened stress.
According to Duff, “Your dear friend Cam, they were lovely enough to let our entire family stay in their house. Matt and I…the tension. We had been kicked out of our house, and the fires were just everywhere.”
She then recalled throwing his phone into a bush at Diaz’s home. Duff lovingly bragged about her throw, saying, “It was a bougainvillea, and I was so proud of myself because those are sharp. I was like, ‘Go fishing off the balcony.'”
‘Luck… Or Something’ Is A Hit Album
Duff announced her sixth studio album, “Luck… Or Something,” in November 2024. The album was then released on February 20, with the singles “Mature” and “Roommates” preceding. According to the Pop Crave X account, the album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 84 total units.
The album also racked up 73,000 units in pure sales, which accounts for purchases of the music rather than streaming. This marks the singer’s fifth 10 ten album.
She spoke to Rolling Stone about the album’s direction in February 2026. Duff stated, “It was really important to me to not make a record that was like, ‘I’m a mom, and I pick up my kids at school and pack lunches every day, and it’s so hard.’
It was not at all what I was interested in talking about. What I was interested in talking about is the shift in how it makes me feel, as a person.”
In support of “Luck… Or Something,” Duff is embarking on an international tour, beginning in May with a stop in Las Vegas. The tour currently ends in February 2027 in Mexico City. Tickets for most shows sold out after going on sale on February 20 alongside the album.
