‘Property Brothers’ Talk Tips for Better Renovations & Upgrades

HGTV stars Drew and Jonathan Scott have spent many years renovating homes. As time goes on, the Property Brothers have studied many trends. Some they’ve fallen in love with, and others they’ve strongly cautioned fans against.

When it comes to renovating their own homes, the Scotts feel incredibly passionate about using environmentally friendly upgrades instead of more traditional methods. See what they recommend for homeowners eager to make eco-friendly changes.

‘The Property Brothers’ Stars Want Fans to Make More Eco-Friendly Choices

The Scott brothers love renovations and giving HGTV viewers tips on their own home improvement projects. However, they’re also increasingly conscious about environmental concerns. That’s precisely why Drew Scott opted to go solar in his own home.

“The Property Brothers” stars released a YouTube tour of Drew’s home where he explained the changes. The twins adamantly believe gas stoves are not only dangerous but also pose risks to the environment.

“We de-carbonized by getting rid of the old gas range that we had and put in this beautiful induction range,” Drew Scott told cameras as he took the crew around his kitchen, proudly displaying the renovation. “I love this because it cooks a pot of water in half the time that it did with the gas range.”

Drew shares his home with his wife, Linda, and their two children.

The Brothers Want “Clean Energy Access for Everyone”

On the Scott brothers’ website, they’ve also shared information on the eco-friendly upgrades they made to Jonathan’s home. They made a YouTube tour of the property as well.

“If you know anything about me, you know I’m big on creating affordable, equitable, clean energy access for everyone,” Jonathan explained on the blog. He shares his home with his fiancée, actress Zooey Deschanel.

“When we first bought the Park House, I knew we wanted to make it more energy efficient… But I didn’t quite anticipate what we ended up doing, after our engineer told us we were going to need to open pretty much every wall to earthquake-proof the house,” he continued. “And you know the old saying: when one wall opens…well, they all do, and we put eco-everything in them.”

On the blog, Jonathan goes on to share tips for a wide variety of eco-friendly improvement projects. From electrical work to insulation, the HGTV stars seemingly thought of everything.

New episodes of “Property Brothers: Under Pressure” air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on HGTV.
