“Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott and actress Zoey Deschanel couldn’t be happier as they experience the life of an engaged couple together.
The HGTV icon proposed in 2023, leaving fans brimming with excitement. However, they’ve kept most of the wedding day plans quiet since.
Now, Jonathan Scott is opening up about a recent decision that he and Zooey Deschanel made together. See what the 47-year-old had to say about the guest list.
Jonathan Scott Made a Firm Decision About the Guest List
Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott both have huge fan bases. They know many people and have plenty of professional connections. But instead of having a large, elaborate wedding, the couple has decided to keep their ceremony small.
“I’ve sort of entered this phase of my life now where I’m realizing there are a lot of people around you who… you put way more effort into the relationship than they do,” the HGTV star shared with PEOPLE in a new interview. “People who I find I’m constantly asking if they would like to go out, if I make plans, would you like to join? And they don’t reciprocate.”
This led Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel to want a more intimate wedding ceremony. Jonathan adds that they really only want their closest friends and family members in attendance.
However, both the bride and groom lead incredibly busy lives. Other than the guest list, they haven’t had much time to work on wedding details.
“So, I’m okay with the idea of something intimate that’s just the people who really care,” Jonathan continued. “And at some point, we’ll figure out a date and a location and all that stuff, but we haven’t done it yet.”
In the meantime, fans are delighted to see the sweet photos the happy couple shares online.
The “Property Brothers” Star Doesn’t Want an “Extravagant” Wedding
Although Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel haven’t decided on many wedding details, many fans aren’t surprised by their recent guest list announcement. Back in 2024, Jonathan shared similar sentiments.
“We know that the most important thing for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones,” the HGTV star told PEOPLE at the time. “And we’re not planning to do a crazy, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be pretty intimate.”
He added that they would likely throw another party for extended friends and family after they eventually tied the knot.
New episodes of “Property Brothers: Under Pressure” air at 9 p.m. on HGTV.

Why not just go a head with a backyard wedding and be done with it. They’ve been talking about this for years, it seems like. Love both of them and wish them a happy life and family.
