‘American Idol’ Runner-Up Returns to TV After 20 Years for New Reality Show

Fox’s fun-filled reality TV game show “The Floor,” hosted by Rob Lowe, returned on September 24 with a new “Battle of the States” theme, featuring 100 contestants from all 50 states competing against each other for a $250,000 prize.

During the season premiere, Lowe made sure to introduce the contestants and viewers at home that season 4 includes two iconic reality TV stars, with one of them nearly beating out one of “American Idol’s” most successful winners.

Fox’s game show “The Floor” returns with a new theme, fun twists, and a bigger cash prize for the 100 contestants participating. As mentioned, the new season’s theme is dedicated to all 50 states, with two players representing each state and each having a category they believe they are an expert in.

During the premiere, Lowe shouted out one of the contestants, who was none other than “American Idol” season 4 runner-up Bo Bice. For the show, Bice represented the state of Tennessee, and his expert category was “Car Racing.”

Bice kept to his rockstar look with long hair and a white beard, with Lowe jokingly sharing, “Bro, I so remember you. And by the way, that’s when “American Idol” was “American Idol. You know what I’m saying? It’s when it was on Fox.”

Bice did not get a chance to show off his skills during the premiere, but he does advance to the next episode. However, Lowe also shouted out yet another reality star — “Survivor’s” iconic villain, Jonny Fairplay, who beat one expert in their category and earned two spots on the floor.

Carrie Underwood Called Bice Her ‘Bestie’ During Their ‘American Idol’ Days

Bo Bice was a finalist on season 4 of “American Idol” in 2005, competing against Carrie Underwood. Underwood ultimately won and went on to become one of the show’s biggest success stories. Now, acting as a judge on the competition series, she reflected on her time on the show with her “Idol to Icon” YouTube series.

In the final episode of her series, which coincided with “American Idol’s” season 23 finale, she discussed her close bond with Bice, calling him her “bestie” throughout the competition.

“I also can’t explain how amazing Bo is and was during the entire show. We were besties from early on in the show, so for the two of us to be in the finale together, it was a dream come true to have my friend next to me on stage, as well,” Underwood said.

Fans will have to stay tuned to “The Floor,” which airs new episodes every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, to see Bice’s reality TV comeback after 20 years.
