“American Idol” season 23 showcased some of the best talent the show has ever seen. It’s no surprise that fans are still following these singing hopefuls on social media, eager to see what they’ve been up to since their time in the spotlight.
For instance, fans can’t get enough of the season’s runner-up, John Foster. With his smooth country voice, he’s continued to win hearts across the U.S. even after the show. Recently, he reunited with a fellow alum for a festive Christmas show that fans loved to see.
John Foster & Josh King Reunite for Christmas Show
“American Idol” season 23 runner-up John Foster is embracing the holiday spirit after having recently performed in Kentucky and North Carolina to spread Christmas cheer and delight fans with heartfelt holiday tunes.
Taking to Instagram, Foster not only shared that both shows were sold out, but revealed that fellow Idol alum Josh King made a special appearance during his second show in Dunn, North Carolina.
His photos showed him performing on stage with his guitar, while a second photo showed him and King posing together. A third snapshot showed the men performing together with Foster’s caption mentioning that the two sang Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.”
He captioned his post, “We really felt the blessings this weekend during our sold-out Christmas shows in KY & NC. It was especially cool to have my great friend Josh King join me for “Jailhouse Rock” at our second show in Dunn. The last photo is the face us musicians make when we hear something we really like 😄.”
As fans can recall, King impressed both the judges and the fans alike with his bluesy vocals and impressive piano skills on season 23. However, he was sent home after the Top 8 were revealed.
Foster Signed a $1 Million Contract With MCA Records
ABCIt didn’t take long for Foster to sign with a record label shortly after becoming runner-up on “American Idol.” In May, the country singer reportedly signed a $1 million record contract with MCA Records, a label that features big-name stars in country music, including George Strait and Reba McEntire.
“This is more than just a dream,” he shared. “George Strait was my hero growing up, and now I’m signed to the same label he calls home. I’m beyond grateful — and ready to get to work.”
Label executives described signing Foster as a move aimed at creating a lasting “legacy” in country music.
“This isn’t just about a deal. This is about legacy,” they shared. “John Foster has the heart, the voice, and the story — everything we believe country music should be. We’re proud to invest in him.”
Foster has since been busy touring the U.S. and, in October, released a more playful country tune called “Little Goes A Long Way.” A debut album is expected sometime next year.
