Lucy has her sights set on Michael Corinthos for Serena, but not everyone is thrilled with her matchmaking scheme. Lucy Coe Is Already Scheming for Her Daughter
“GH” stars Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson recently took to their Stone Cold and the Jackal social media pages to highlight one of Port Charles’ newest returning faces: Serena Baldwin.
As longtime “General Hospital” fans may remember, Serena is the biological daughter of Dominique Stanton and Scott Baldwin, making her the maternal half-sister of Cody Bell. After Dominique’s death, Serena was eventually adopted by Scott’s wife, Lucy Coe.
Now, after years off the canvas, Serena has officially returned to Port Charles, and Lucy isn’t wasting any time getting involved in her daughter’s life.
As viewers recently witnessed, Lucy is already scheming to push Serena and Michael Corinthos together. There’s just one problem: Michael is currently involved with Jacinda Bracken.
Burton and Anderson highlighted the unusual matchmaking scheme in an “Aftershow Discussion” post, asking fans, “PIMP MY DAUGHTER: Whether Serena Is Willing Or Not, Isn’t Lucy’s Scheme Just…Icky?!”
Many viewers agreed.
“Very icky!! But that’s Lucy. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I hope Michael does not fall for this,” one fan commented.
Another viewer wasn’t interested in seeing Michael and Serena together, writing, “Yes, it is. Besides, that little moment she fell on Jack’s lap looked like it could be the beginning of something. I like Michael with Jacinda.”
Others were more direct about Lucy’s behavior.

Lucy’s Infamous Red Wedding Dress Gets Another Mention
Lucy’s matchmaking scheme becomes even more complicated when considering her own romantic history with the Quartermaine family.
Longtime viewers may remember that Lucy was once married to Michael’s grandfather, Dr. Alan Quartermaine. During the recent storyline, Lucy took her matchmaking fantasy even further by imagining Serena eventually marrying Michael and even suggested that her daughter could wear Lucy’s infamous red wedding dress.

Another viewer joked that Lucy’s interest in the Quartermaine family is nothing new, commenting, “Lucy has been trying to get the Q money for 40 years.”
However, some longtime fans loved the nod to Lucy’s history.
“I love that she imagined a wedding of Serena to Michael and said she could even wear the red dress… hilarious throwback,” one viewer wrote.

Not Everyone Is Sold on Serena Baldwin’s Return
Lucy’s matchmaking wasn’t the only aspect of the storyline generating strong opinions. Some “General Hospital” fans admitted they aren’t sold on Serena’s return to Port Charles at all.
“Don’t like Lucy or Serena,” one fan commented.
Another questioned whether the soap needed to add another character to the canvas, writing, “Don’t like this storyline. We don’t need another newbie!”
One viewer simply admitted, “I am so sorry, I don’t like her character.”
Others pointed out that scheming isn’t exactly unfamiliar territory for Serena’s adoptive mother.
“Remember Lucy came on GH as a schemer,” one longtime fan reminded viewers.
Another fan argued that Serena appears to have been brought back specifically to create drama, but questioned whether the show needed another pot-stirrer when Lucy has already spent decades filling that role.
“Serena is being brought back to stir the pot. Her on-screen mother already had that area successfully covered,” the viewer wrote, adding that Serena’s return was taking screen time away from other characters and concluding, “Why they brought her back is a mystery.”
