Andy Cohen Reveals Why He Turned Down a Fan-Favorite Competition Show

“Dancing With the Stars” has welcomed several reality TV stars from the Bravo universe over the years. From “Real Housewives” stars Teresa Giudice, Erika Jayne, and Phedra Parks to “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, Bravo has plenty of representation on the ballroom floor.

Now ahead of season 35, “Summer House” star Ciara Miller is the latest Bravolebrity set to take on the competition.

But fans have wondered why Bravo boss Andy Cohen has never appeared on the series. In a new interview with Variety, he says he was asked to join the show, but he explains why he turned down the offer.

Fans would love the idea of Bravo head honcho Andy Cohen showing off his moves on the DWTS ballroom floor, but it seems he’d rather stick to what he does best: hosting Bravo reunions.

Speaking to Variety, Cohen was asked whether he was ever asked to star in other reality TV shows, and surprised readers by saying he was approached to be a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars.”

“I got an ask about “Dancing with the Stars” many, many, many years ago,” he said.

But Cohen gave an honest answer as to why he would never compete on the show. “I can’t dance on TV. No one wants to see that.”

He continued, “I used to be the greatest freeform dancer, and I feel like every time I go to Dead shows, people film me dancing, and then I get made fun of on TikTok. Let me dance in peace.”

Cohen also shared that he would never participate in “The Traitors,” although he has hosted the reunions. “They haven’t asked me. First of all, I think I would be eliminated immediately. I host the reunion, which I would like to keep doing. I don’t think I could do that if I were on it. But also, I think I would be such a target, and I’ve produced competition reality shows, so I don’t know who would want me on their cast,” he admitted.

Besides hosting all of Bravo’s beloved reality TV series, Cohen also teamed up with “Vanderpump Rules” alum Ariana Madix to co-host “Love Island USA” season 7. The duo is also hosting the newest season, which will air on August 31.

Has Any Bravo Star Ever Won DWTS?

Several stars from the Bravo world have competed on DWTS, most notably a handful of “Real Housewives” stars. But have any of them come close or won a mirrorball trophy? Sadly, no. However, the Bravo star that came the closest to winning it all was Ariana Madix in season 32.

Madix was partnered with pro dancer Pasha Pashkov, and the two made it to the finals. However, they placed third behind runner-ups Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach and winners Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy.

There is still a chance a Bravo star could win the coveted trophy. Season 35 will include “Summer House” star Ciara Miller, who fans are eager to see on the ballroom floor. There is still no word as to who she will be partnered up with in the competition, but she had previously shared that she has been “campaigning for Val [Chmerkovskiy],” per E! News.

“Dancing With the Stars” season 35 airs with a special two-night premiere starting on Tuesday, September 15 on ABC and Disney +.
