Fall TV season is just around the corner. “Dancing With the Stars” season 35 premieres in September, with “R.J. Decker” season 2 premiering immediately after.
This year, there’s going to be an exciting crossover. After watching two beloved professional dancers compete on DWTS at 8 p.m., fans can see the pair in Florida with the “R.J. Decker” crew at 10 p.m.
Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are excited to flex their acting skills and bring their dance abilities to the set.
DWTS Power Couple Jenna Johnson & Val Chmerkovskiy Guest Star on ‘R.J. Decker’
“Dancing With the Stars” fans are in for a special treat this September. Immediately following the season 35 premiere, a “R.J. Decker” season 2 kicks off. Season 33 champions Jenna Johnson and Joey Graziadei will have parts in the new episode, as will season 32 champion Val Chmerkovskiy.
“This dance floor looks a little different 🌴 Watch @jennajohnson, @joeygraziadei, and @valentin on the season 2 premiere of #RJDecker Tuesday, September 15 on ABC right after #DWTS. Stream on Hulu and Disney+,” the official “R.J. Decker” Instagram account shared this week.
The post featured several shots of the “Dancing With the Stars” alums on the set of the popular ABC show. Jenna Johnson and Joey Graziadei were immediately recognizable, but many were taken aback by Val Chmerkovskiy’s wild hair. The Ukrainian dancer is known for having a slicked-back style. The R.J. Decker promo revealed what happens when he lets it all loose.
“Is that @valentin or Maui from Moana?” Alfonso Ribeiro’s wife, Angela, wrote in the comments.
“Ahhh Val’s Hairrrrr!!!” another chimed in.
“Traded in those ballroom shoes for some flip-flops 🤭” the official “Dancing With the Stars” Instagram account added.
The Power Couple Carve Out Time For One Another Amid Busy Schedules
Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are powerhouses in the ballroom. However, their professional careers have occasionally brought challenges to the marriage.
“We check in and definitely try to allocate enough time for us to continue to love each other and be together and not lose that spontaneity and that joy for each other too,” Val Chmerkovskiy told PEOPLE in 2025. “But yeah, we’re new parents, so we’re still calibrating things. We’re still figuring it out, and most importantly, we’re patient with each other.”
“Something that someone said to me that I did find valuable, and obviously with a grain of salt, but it was, ‘Remember, your kid is coming into your life,’” the Ukrainian dancer explained. “‘He’s joining your life, so you’re not joining his, in a way where it’s like, bring him along on the ride.’ So if we travel a lot, we work a lot, we’re on set, we’re rehearsing, I bring him along. And obviously, at times, it’s uncomfortable and it’s not as easy with a child, but you get used to it, he gets used to it.”
Fans can catch the “Dancing With the Stars” season 35 premiere at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, on ABC. The “R.J. Decker” season 2 premiere begins at 10 p.m., immediately following DWTS.
