Chrissy Teigen, 40, thanked “Summer House” star Carl Radke, 41, for inspiring her to quit drinking after she relapsed in 2025 from her first run with sobriety.
Model Teigen is also known for ‘Lip Sync’ and the ‘Star Search’ reboot.
‘Voice’ alum John Legend’s wife shared a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, Jan. 27, sharing how after she hosted Radke on her “Self Conscious” podcast, their talk about his sobriety journey “changed” her life by motivating her to stop drinking. The episode aired on Jan. 15 but was taped several months prior. Teigen shared on Instagram that she has now been 52 days sober.
Chrissy Teigen Says She’s ‘Grateful’ for Carl Radke
“I am grateful to @carradke. Not for just all the years on Bravo he has blessed us with, but because of his honesty and openness around his own journey with sobriety. As you know, l’ve had my own,” Teigen wrote alongside a photo of her hugging the Soft Bar + Cafe owner.
Teigen shared that her talk with Radke came just in time for her to compose herself before starting her new gig as a “Star Search” judge. “Within the same week of talking to Carl, I stopped drinking again. I had been in talks for ‘Star Search’ and knew that if I were given the incredible chance to be on the show, there was absolutely no [expletive] way l’d do it with alcohol in my dressing room,” she said.
The Cravings founder explained that when she picked drinking back up over a year ago, she promised herself it would be in a “mindful way,” adding that having an occasional glass of wine with her husband, John Legend, 47, was important to her.
Teigen said that her drinking began to quickly spiral after allowing herself to drink more than she planned. “Quiet moments at home were for wine. The time went from 6pm, to 5, to 4, to aw [expletive], it’s lunch, why not. When it got to 11am, I was like, oh [expletive], here we go again,” she shared.
Chrissy Teigen Is Happier Than Ever
GettyThe mom of four described her habit as “quiet drinking,” rather than “messy.” But when the little things she missed out on, like a “last-minute grocery run,” began to take a toll on her, she knew it had become a problem again.
Teigen wrapped up her post by expressing how thankful she is to be able to still be herself without drinking alcohol. “Turns out, without it, I can still be funny. Still be stupid. Still be wildly nervous. Anxious as a mother [expletive]. And I can get through it all without it,” she said.
Radke jumped in her comments to commend her for being so honest, noting that her story will hopefully help inspire others to become sober as well.
“Thank you, Chrissy. Your honesty and openness is inspiring and you’re helping A LOT of people,” Radke penned. “Honored you had me on the podcast! We’re in this together. Keep Going!”
