Jarrett “JT” Thomas gave fans a look at his new life—in Bali. The former “Southern Charm” star opened up about the major change she made to his life one year after his sudden exit from the show weeks before the season 10 premiere.
In a video posted to Instagram on Nov. 5, Thomas explained that with his home country “imploding,” his goal was to “quickly find a new community of friends.”
“I came to this ‘secret garden’ estate earlier this year as I explored all over Asia in case s— hit the fan in the US,” he captioned the clip. “When I hit the eject button last week… I came straight back to the secret garden and reunited with this lovely family in paradise. Four days in, we’ve got some friendships brewing, and the core family didn’t forget me. 🌱❤️”

In the video, Thomas explained, “When your country’s imploding, you gotta leave sometimes and start something new for a while.’
The “Southern Charm” alum added that he sold everything he owned and embarked on a new journey in Bali, Indonesia. “Retired, at least for the time being,” he said.
Thomas then walked along the secret community where he is living, which is run by a Balinese family. He waved to a handyman on the site and introduced viewers to his “new sister,” her children, and the family dog. “So now I am part of the family, the Balinese family,” he said. “Living in our secret garden.”
He also gave a brief tour of the garden, which includes a series of small houses adorned with coconut trees out front, a pool, and a yoga pavilion.
“They’ve taken me under their wing,” Thomas said of his new family. “I explained that I needed some friends.”
“It’s starting to feel like home,“ he added of his new accommodations.
Thomas said he will leave Bali in a year, or maybe three, depending on how things go with U.S. elections next November.
The former North Carolina businessman first told fans about his plans on an Instagram post on Nov. 2, “So today’s the first day of my new journey in life,” he said in the video. “I have pulled the ripcord, and I am living in Bali. Just retired. Retired, living in Bali, after living my whole life in the US.”
He added that he will stay in Bali “until things become normal again, if that ever happens.”
JT Thomas Resigned From ‘Southern Charm’ Before His Final Season on the Show Aired
BravoThomas was a cast member on the 9th and 10th seasons of “Southern Charm,” but his final season on the show didn’t end well.
On November 8, 2024, he posted a message to Instagram to announce that he informed Bravo he would not be completing his remaining confessional interviews and that he no longer wished “to participate in any ways moving forward with the show.”
“I will leave it at that for now while I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging and exhausting year,” Thomas said of the stressful season, in which he was ostracized by most of the cast amid a love triangle involving his former best friend Venita Aspen.
Thomas returned for the “Southern Charm” reunion earlier this year, but it’s clear that chapter of his life is now closed.
