Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” Season 12 premieres on Dec. 2, and before the fan-favorite series returns, a new trailer gives fans a first look at the fresh cast, promising just as much drama as seasons past.
As fans get a closer look at the new cast, including two cousins who previously appeared on popular Netflix dating shows, they’re also learning about one star who overcame a life-altering trauma that left him paralyzed, ultimately learning to walk again and achieve milestones he never thought possible.
‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season 12 Star Shayne Davis Survived the Unthinkable
BravoThe new cast of “Vanderpump Rules” season 12 is a diverse group of stars, each on their own personal journey, with many hoping that working at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant in West Hollywood will help them achieve their dreams in entertainment.
But for one new cast member, there’s an even bigger story of survival. Shayne Davis endured a near-fatal shooting that left him paralyzed, but he defied the odds and learned to walk again. He’s since shared his inspiring journey of survival and strength.
Davis shared his incredible story on Instagram, posting a photo of himself in a wheelchair and hospital scrubs. He revealed how his life changed forever on August 19, 2012, when, as a teenager struggling with addiction and drugs, he was “shot a couple of times in the back,” an attack that “nearly took my life and paralyzed me below the waist.”
He continued, “I was told I may never walk again but by the grace of a power greater than myself I was given a second chance at life.”
Davis learned to walk again after his traumatic experience, and did things he never could have imagined, including walking in fashion shows, hiking “America’s tallest mountain,” and participating in marathons. However, his biggest life purpose after the shooting was helping and working with other addicts “in an attempt to pass on what has been given to me.”
In an October post, Davis is seen speaking at a conference about his journey through addiction, revealing that each of his bandaid tattoos marks the location where he was shot.
During his conversation, Davis shared that while his shooting was an extremely traumatic experience, it ultimately made him realize that his life was bigger than drugs and addiction, and it helped him find a way out and build a new path forward.
“If you’re struggling or love someone who is, please know: it is possible to heal, to reconnect, and to rebuild. One day at a time,” his caption read.
Davis Does Not Work At Sur, But Is ‘in the Center of the Drama’
According to Bravo’s description of the cast of “Vanderpump Rules” season 12, Davis is the only cast member who doesn’t work at SUR, but knowing many of those who do, he still finds himself “in the center of the drama.”
“Shayne Davis winds up in the center of the drama at SUR, even though he’s the only one of their friends who doesn’t work there. He’s laser-focused on his sobriety, but that doesn’t stop him from a night out on the town,” his bio reads.
“Between acting, improv, and screenwriting, Shayne’s social calendar is close to capacity, but he always makes time for dating. With one foot in and one foot out of the pool of ladies at SUR, Shayne might just make a splash he’s not ready to clean up.”
In the trailer for the new season, Davis is seen getting confronted by SUR’s “newest addition,” Angelica Jensen, about finding his dating profile. “Hey, you know I’ve found your Hinge profile, and it says that you believe in monogamy.” But, he then jokes, “That wasn’t updated.”
He’s then seen speaking to cast member Marcus Johnson about his inability to commit. “Part of why it’s hard for me to commit. I get terrified about what about all the other chicks?” Davis appears to find himself in a couple of entanglements with the women working at SUR, which fans all know can get messy.
