Country music star Brett Kissel and his wife, Cecilia Kissel, known as Cece, have announced they are ending their marriage after nearly 15 years together. The couple shared the news on Friday, December 19, in a joint social media post that featured a handwritten letter explaining their decision and requesting privacy as they move forward.
Getty“It is with a clear mind and a loving heart that I have made the decision to end our marriage of almost 15 years,” the note read. “We have come to realize that, after a great deal of deep soul searching, that we are no longer suited to be married to one another.”
A Thoughtful Decision After Deep Reflection
In the message, Kissel and Cece acknowledged the weight of their choice and emphasized it was not made lightly.
They told fans they fully understood that stepping away from marriage was “a very big decision,” but said it was one they “have not taken lightly.”
Despite the separation, the pair stressed that respect and care remain at the center of their relationship.
The Couple Shares Four Children Together
The country music artist, 35, and his now ex-partner, an entrepreneur, public speaker, and social media influencer, share four children: daughters Mila, 9, and Aria, 8, and sons Leo, 6, and Atlas, 3.
“As we move forward in our next chapter of life, we look forward to continuing to co-parent our four amazing children, and we will definitely remain great friends,” the two wrote.
“We look to our future with optimism, with love, and with great respect for one another. Sincerely, Brett and Cece.”
Wedding Rings Removed as They Begin a New Chapter
Alongside the handwritten letter, Kissel and Cece shared an image of their wedding rings, revealing they have removed them as they continue on separate paths.
Comments on the post were turned off, but the couple included a caption thanking supporters for their understanding.
“Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate this new chapter,” the caption read. “We would like to share that we are all doing well and have quietly been separated now for a year and a half. ❤️”
Asking for Privacy Moving Forward
The former couple also shared a clear request with fans as they adjust to life as newly single parents.
“Please don’t spend your time worrying about us and our children,” they wrote. “However, we would greatly appreciate your continued kindness moving forward and ask that you respect the privacy of our family. With love, Brett [and] Cece.”
The announcement closes a significant chapter in their lives, with both now focused on co-parenting their children and moving forward with care, respect, and mutual understanding.
