Dolly Parton Pulls Out of Another Event Amid Health Concerns

Concerns over beloved singer Dolly Parton’s health continue to grow after news has broken that the country music icon has pulled out of yet another event.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Dolly will not be in attendance November 16 when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ board of governors honors her with its Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 16th Governors Awards.

The “Coat of Many Colors” singer had already cancelled a planned appearance at her Dollywood theme park and postponed her upcoming planned mini-residency in Las Vegas in December.

Tickets for the six planned concerts had sold out in less than two hours.

While Dolly has not said exactly what’s going on with her health, she did share with fans in a lengthy Instagram post, “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”

Dolly Parton Tells Fans She Wants to Be at Her Best

Until Dolly Parton’s announcement about postponing her sold-out Las Vegas shows, Dolly Parton had been going “non-stop” according to those closest to the singer.

But the country legend explained in her Instagram post that she didn’t feel like she could bring the quality and preparation to her Vegas shows that her fans deserve, writing, “Given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

Dolly continued, “While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.”

Latest Cancellation Involves Cause Close to Dolly’s Heart

Dolly Parton’s inability to be at the 16th Governors Awards in Hollywood in November is especially concerning to fans because it involves a cause that is close to Dolly’s heart.

The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will give Dolly an honorary Oscar for her legendary charity work through the Dollywood Foundation and her Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

That charity has provided free books to more than 285-million children to inspire a love of reading. Dolly started the Imagination Library to honor her father, who never learned to read.

The ceremony will also bestow honorary Oscars on actor-producer Tom Cruise, actress-producer-choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas.
