Garth Brooks Presented With the Inaugural Artist of a Lifetime Award

Garth Brooks was presented with the first-ever Artist of a Lifetime award and became the only artist to achieve ten Diamond album certifications.

On Instagram, Brooks shared a photograph with a certification showing his achievement. A plaque shows states he is the first artist to reach both 100M and 200M in sales.

He captioned the image, “This is for Country Music, Country Radio, and the Country Music audience. Thank you for my life! Love Garth.”

USA Today shared further details about the honor. Brooks was introduced by longtime friend, producer and musician Don Was.

“They say gratefulness is the seed of happiness. And I am grateful every single day to have been given this shot,” Brooks stated.

He added that he said there would be no more pauses to his career, after taking 14-years to raise his daughters Taylor, August, and Allie. “No more retirement! You’re gonna have to drag my [expletive] out.”

During the ceremony, Brooks performed James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” and “Carolina on My Mind” as well as Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page.” He then played his own compositions “The River” and “The Thunder Rolls.”

Garth Brooks Headed to London For First Concert in 30 Years

Garth Brooks will head to London for his first concert in almost 30 years at Hyde Park.

According to his official website, the entertainer will take the stage on June 27, 2026. The event was first announced in 2025.

“Announcing Garth Brooks as our first BST Hyde Park headliner for 2026 is a landmark moment,” said Jim King, CEO of AEG Presents UK and European Festivals.

“A true global icon, Garth’s songs have connected with audiences everywhere, and his influence has paved the way for many of the country stars we celebrate today. His first UK performance in nearly three decades promises to be an unforgettable occasion at Hyde Park.”

Brooks said of the concert, “It’s an honor to be asked to play such an iconic venue. It’s always the people who make a place special. We are VERY excited!”

Supporting Brooks are the Zac Brown Band and Ashley McBryde. Additionally, other performers include Alexandra Kay, The Shires, and Jackson Dean.

Raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks burst onto the country music scene in 1989 with the release of his debut album. The record quickly established him as an artist to watch, fueled in part by the success of “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” which climbed to the top of the country charts and helped launch his career.

Garth Brooks last played in the UK in 1998 for his “World Tour.” He played a small number of UK dates during that stretch at venues like London’s Wembley Arena before stepping away from international touring for many years.
