Fans of the early-2000s UK garage/R&B group Mis-Teeq were in for a treat earlier this week, when the all-girl group performed together for the first time in 22 years. Fans were thrilled to once again see Mis-Teeq on stage.
According to News.com.au, the group – made up of all three original members Alesha Dixon, Sabrina Washington and Su-Elise Nash – performed a medley of some of their biggest hits on “Britain’s Got Talent” this week. This performance marked the first time the trio had sung together in public since October 2004.
Alesha Dixon and Sabrina Washington are now 47 years old, while Su-Elise Nash is slightly younger at 45. Yet fans agreed that the women haven’t lost their touch. Comments under the YouTube video included, “How do they all look even finer?!” and “They all look great! Alesha’s voice, stage presence and rapping is still so captivating.”
Mis-Teeq enjoyed a string of success in the early 2000s, with seven songs in the UK’s top 10. A blend of UK garage and R&B, the group referred to their unique sound as “UK Urban.” Their biggest hit, 2003’s “Scandalous,” became a top 10 hit in Australia and even broke through to the United States market.
Mis-Teeq’s success was unfortunately short-lived. According to Discogs, in 2004, music label Telstar – under the parent label BMG UK & Ireland – entered bankruptcy proceedings when a number of artists signed to the label were unsuccessful. The group disbanded shortly after, and, according to News.com.au, officially announced their decision to split in early 2005. The news came as a shock to Mis-Teeq fans around the world.
Tracking the Band Members’ Careers Following the Group’s Split
All three members of Mis-Teeq have gone on to pursue various projects in music, dance or television following the group’s disbandment.
Alesha Dixon, the rapper of the group, has succeeded in staying in the public eye following the disbandment of the group. Successfully transitioning to a solo career, Dixon released four albums and appeared as a judge on both Australia’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.
In 2007, Dixon won the 2007 series of “Strictly Come Dancing” with her show partner, professional dancer Matthew Cutler, according to the BBC. Her most successful solo single, “The Boy Does Nothing” was nominated for a MOBO Award in 2009 for Best Video, according to IMDB. The award was ultimately won by Beyoncé’s music video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
Sabrina Washington won the 2008 season of “Celebrity Scissorhands,” according to the BBC. The following year she came sixth in “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” She has released several solo singles, the most successful of which was “OMG (Oh My Gosh).”
Like her former Mis-Teeq bandmates, Su-Elise Nash has found success following the disbandment of the group. She appeared as a guest on “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” in the same year that former Mis-Teeq bandmate Sabrina Washington was a contestant. According to her LinkedIn profile, Nash returned to college and earned teaching qualifications in classical ballet, modern dance and tap. She opened a series of “Su-Elise Stage Schools” with studios across England.
More to Come: Mis-Teeq to Perform Comeback Show in September 2026
In May, Mis-Teeq announced their intention to perform a comeback show at Ovo Arena in Wembley in September. Scheduled for 12 September and titled, “One Night Stand with Mis-Teeq,” the show will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the release of their first album, “Lickin’ on Both Sides.” According to the BBC, Alesha Dixon said of the anniversary concert, “We can’t wait to relive the magic and energy of that record and many more, with the very people who made it so special.”
She added, “I’m also excited for my daughters ‘the Mis-Teeq babies’ to see us coming back strong!” According to Heart, Dixon has two daughters, 12-year-old Azura and 6-year-old Anaya, with her husband Azuka Ononye. Azura and Anaya featured at the start of the group’s appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent” this week, sitting in the judge’s chair usually reserved for their mother.
Speculation about a possible reunion began in April when the group created a new verified Instagram account and populated it with clips from their music videos and interviews.
It is not yet known whether the September concert will be a one-off anniversary event or just the start of a brand new chapter for Mis-Teeq.
