Alyssa Milano Calls James Van Der Beek ‘A Unicorn of a Man’ in Touching Tribute

As tributes continue to pour in following James Van Der Beek’s passing, Alyssa Milano is sharing an especially heartfelt message about the man she calls “a unicorn.” The actress, who starred in “Charmed” while “Dawson’s Creek” aired alongside it on The WB, reflected on Van Der Beek’s rare kindness, devotion to family, and unwavering presence for the people he loved.

Her emotional words come as fans also rally around his wife, Kimberly, and their six children, with a GoFundMe launched to support the family after his long and costly battle with cancer.

Heartfelt Tribute to Van Der Beek

Milano starred in “Charmed” at the same time “Dawson’s Creek” was airing. Both shows were on the WB network, so the duo had a connection there.

In her lengthy Instagram post, Milano said, “There are people in this industry who are talented. Some who are charismatic. A few who are generous. And then there were the rare ones — the truly kind and thoughtful.”

Milano went on to say that “James was the rare kind. He showed up for his people. He listened. He cared.”

In the touching announcement by his family, we all know how much his wife and kids meant to him. Milano continued, “More than anything, he loved being a husband and a father. There are few who cherish that role more deeply than he did.”

She went on to say that James was “a unicorn of a man.” Milano ended her post saying, “My heart aches for his family. But I know he will be a part of everything they do forevermore. Every flower. Every giggle. Everything. Always. That’s what his kind of love does.”

GoFundMe Set Up For His Family

After his passing, a GoFundMe was set up to help his family out in this trying time. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.

On the fundraiser, it states, “the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain,” and they are now “facing an uncertain future.”

This was a long battle for James and his family, so this makes sense. The GoFundMe added, “The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds. They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time.”

Our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time.
