With “Dancing With the Stars” season 35 just around the corner, ABC is making many exciting announcements to pique fans’ interest.
While the formal cast announcement is still over a week away, the network is pleased to announce the return of a former pro dancer and Mirrorball champion.
‘Dancing With the Stars’ Announces the Return of Sharna Burgess
At the “Dancing With the Stars” convention, executives Deena Katz and Conrad Green teased that this year’s cast would be bigger than season 34. There are already plenty of confirmed celebrity competitors. That also means there will need to be plenty of pro dancers available to partner with them and teach them.
Reigning champion Witney Carson already confirmed she will compete, even though she’s expecting her third child. Now, there is another confirmed pro dancer on the roster. Season 27 champion Sharna Burgess is returning to the ballroom after several years away.
“A little birdie told us an absolute firecracker is back in the ballroom 💥 Please give @sharnaburgess a warm welcome on her return as a #DWTS pro!” the official “Dancing With the Stars” Instagram account revealed this morning.
“I’m back in the ballroom, baby!” the 41-year-old cheerfully declared before blowing a kiss at the camera. Fans went wild in the comments, excited to see the Australian dancer back on their television screens.
“About time! Now just give her a good partner to make it to the finale!” a viewer wrote.
“YESSSS SHARNA!!!🙌🏾 welcome back queen😍” another chimed in.
“Soo exited to see you back @sharnaburgess ❤️” a third fan added.
Sharna Burgess Teased Her Grand Return at the Convention
During the first-ever “Dancing With the Stars” convention, Sharna Burgess appeared alongside the other pro dancers during several performances. She also spoke candidly to fans, who inquired if she had any plans to return.
Sharna admitted that she and the executives had previously discussed her return to the show ahead of season 34. She wasn’t ready then, but said there was a “temperature check” to see if she ever wanted to compete again.
“My son was not in school yet, and I was building on other things. I’ve been acting and doing a lot of other stuff, too,” the Australian dancer shared at the convention. But this year, things are different.
Sharna Burgess added that she’s sorely missed dancing competitively.
“When I woke up that morning, like, a little over less than a year ago, and I was like, ‘I need dance back in my life.’ If they were to ask me this year, I would absolutely say yes. Especially after this experience,” Sharna told the convention attendees.
“I can’t tell you how happy my heart, my soul, and my body are doing this. And I think I still have a lot more to give,” she added.
Fans can catch Sharna Burgess and the rest of the “Dancing With the Stars” season 35 pros in the ballroom during the season premiere at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15. There will be an exciting second episode the following night on Wednesday, September 16.
