“Woke up crying to this,” she began her message. “This never happens in Australia, this is horrific, we were the safe country. I guess not so much anymore. I’m thinking of all the families who lost their loved ones today.” Murgatroyd followed up with two more posts on her Instagram Stories, showing her support for the communities affected, specifically the Jewish community in the area. Crowds had gathered for the “Chanukah by the Sea” event to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah. Murgatroyd revealed she stands with them.
Murgatroyd’s powerful words may bring solace to those impacted by the incident, and her decision to speak publicly about what happened has helped to raise awareness. The world is in shock over the incident, which has claimed 15 lives and injured over 40 others who remain in hospital, CNN reports.
