Bear Brown Pays An Emotional Tribute to His Father on the Anniversary of His Death

“Alaskan Bush People” is a reality television series that first began airing on the Discovery Channel and subsequently ran for 14 seasons on the network. It followed Billy and his family, including several sons and grandchildren, as they attempted to survive off the grid in the remote wilderness.

Living apart from modern society, the group was filmed primarily in the Copper Center area of Hoonah in Alaska, as well as in Washington on the Canadian border.

Remembering his father, Bear shared several images of the family patriarch with his distinctive facial hair with other members of the family. He also included a caption alongside the photographs to pay tribute to him.

“Five years ago today, we lost Da,” he said. “It seems like it was just yesterday, I was able to talk to him, to ask his advice, to hear his words of wisdom. But that time is gone, now I can only remember him! Love and miss you always Da.”

Billy led the family throughout the show’s run but sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 68. According to People, he died after suffering a seizure.

At the time, Bear announced the news on his social media accounts saying, “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,”

The reality television personality added, “He was our best friend — a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed.”

Bear continued, “He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well,” continued Bear, 33. “We plan to honor his legacy going forward and to continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time. God Bless Everyone!”

The incident was shown during an episode of the show that aired on October 31, 2022. It included an emotional farewell to Billy and how the rest of the family intended to honor his legacy.
