From ‘Basic Instinct’ to ‘Euphoria’: Sharon Stone’s Career Then and Now
It has been more than three decades since Stone became a cultural phenomenon.
Her 1992 portrayal of Catherine Tramell in “Basic Instinct” opposite Michael Douglas remains one of the most discussed performances in Hollywood history.
The film’s interrogation scene in particular has never stopped generating conversation, a testament to just how indelible Stone’s impact on cinema has been.
Nearly 35 years later, she is back on screen and generating buzz all over again.
Stone currently appears in HBO’s “Euphoria,” playing Patty Lance, an executive showrunner, in the drama’s third and final season.
HBOThe show, created by Sam Levinson, stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer. The late Eric Dane also appears in one of his final roles.
Stone has made no secret of how much the project means to her. “It’s phenomenal,” she said of the Emmy-winning series, while talking to Today.
“Ashley and Sam Levinson, who made this thing and developed and produced … they built these stars. They found talent, talent, talent, talent, talent. They find nothing but talent and develop it.”
Her praise for the show went further still.
“It’s so good. I just think it should be shown in every school in America. Adults watch it and they’re like, ‘Oh, that’s not how it is.’ You know what? I raised three boys as a single mom, by myself, and I am telling you, that’s exactly what’s happening in the world,” Stone said during a sit-down interview.
She described “Euphoria” simply as a “ride,” calling it both “intense” and “unbelievable.”
