In 2022, Sharon’s younger brother, Patrick Joseph Stone, passed away at 57 following a sudden cardiac event. The Pennsylvania coroner’s office confirmed his passing was ruled sudden cardiac death caused by heart disease, according to TMZ.
Sharon confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram video, speaking through tears.
“We did lose my brother Patrick Joseph Stone to a heart attack yesterday,” she said, as reported by Today.
“Like any family, we thank you for your love and support in this time of immeasurable grief and we appreciate all of your condolences. Yes, we’ve had a tremendous amount of loss in these last couple of years, as so many of you also have. And we do greatly understand that the losses are ours here on Earth, and I thank you very much for the love and support that you’re showing us, and we just ask you to continue to be kind. Thank you.”
Sharon Stone’s Nephew River Passed Away at 11 Months Old in 2021
Patrick’s passing came just months after another unimaginable loss for the family.
He was the father of Sharon’s nephew and godson, River, who died in August 2021 at just 11 months old from total organ failure, as per Page Six.
Sharon announced River’s passing in a heartfelt Instagram video (now deleted/removed), captioning it: “River William Stone Sept. 8, 2020 – Aug. 30, 2021,” set to “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton.
In September 2021, Sharon spoke to People about how her family found a measure of peace through organ donation.
“The fact that my godson was able to save three lives, two infants and a 45-year-old man was sanctuary for our family,” she said.
“I can only say that you never, never know when a tragedy will happen in your life or in your family, but this opportunity to be an organ donor, it saved us, saved our family.”
She added: “Many people have many different thoughts about this, but in the end, it gave us some peace.”
