Bobby Flay is opening up like never before about his romance with fellow chef and restaurant powerhouse Brooke Williamson.
During the second episode of his new “Bobby on the Beat,” podcast, Flay, 60, and Williamson, 47, looked back on the moment they met on the set of Alex Guarnaschelli’s “Supermarket Stakeout.” As it turns out, neither one realized just how much that day would change their lives.
“He was impressed,” Williamson joked, but Flay was quick to confirm it. “I got to talk to you, and I was really impressed by you,” he said. “It’s always nice to meet somebody new and be surprised you have a connection with them in some way.”

The Food Network star admitted that he didn’t know much about the “Top Chef” winner before filming together, despite her big résumé. She, meanwhile, had recently won “Tournament of Champions” and was focused on building her career. Williamson remembered arriving on set and being handed a trailer next to one marked “BF.”
“One of the producers came in, and I asked, ‘Who’s the other judge?’ and they were like, ‘Oh, it’s Bobby Flay,’” she recalled.
From there, things unfolded naturally. They shared a car to set, where Flay hilariously read her bio on his phone. But what really sealed the moment happened on camera. They realized they judged dishes exactly the same way.
“Seems like a small thing, but when you’re instantly on the same page, it feels like a connection,” Williamson said. They went to dinner, talked for hours, and then didn’t see each other for nearly a year.
Their Relationship Took Shape After Flay’s Unexpected Call
The pandemic halted filming and separated them, but that didn’t stop Flay from reaching out. Williamson wrote a Los Angeles Times op-ed during the restaurant shutdowns, and one night, she received a surprise FaceTime call.
“You called to say you really respected what I wrote,” she said. “That you thought I represented the industry with my voice.”
That message changed everything.
The couple went public this spring and have been inseparable since—showing up together at the U.S. Open, celebrating Williamson’s 47th birthday, and openly calling themselves life partners. The ring, Flay said, simply symbolizes the commitment they already share.
EntertainmentNow“We both don’t want to get married again,” Flay told the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. “It’s great having a life partner. I wanted to give her something significant to make her feel committed. That’s all.”
