Chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and Food Network legend Emeril Lagasse is an icon in the dining world. Having graduated from culinary school in 1978 and made his name as a chef in the 1980s, he has gone on to make a major name for himself in the entertainment world, starting in the 1990s.
Per IMDb, Lagasse has appeared on various cooking television shows on the channel, including the long running “Emeril Live” (1997 until 2007) and “Essence of Emeril” (1994 until 2007). He’s also done a little bit of acting, lending his voice to the likes of 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog” and the “Hercules” animated television series.
However, there’s a generation of fans who, while familiar with him, don’t remember what he was like in the 1990s. Well, he’s come to their aid with a video posted to his Instagram account.
Emeril Lagasse Remembers the 1990s as Being ‘So Good’
The 28-second video, shared with his 712,000 followers, begins with Emeril Lagasse eating what looks like fried chicken and looking ponderous. It has text overlayed on it that says, “Dad, what were you like in the 90s?” The post is captioned, “Man, the 90s were good.”
It then transitions into a montage of images of Lagasse during the last decade of the 20th century.
They include a picture of him holding a fishing rod among a load of ice and fish, pictures of him at work in his kitchens, pictures of him enjoying himself with friends, and some pictures of him posing for formal promotional photoshoots.
The Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 alternative rock song “Iris” plays over the top of it.
Lagasse’s fans had a lot to say about him and the video in the comments section.

Chef and entrepeneur Chuck Kerber commented, “Dude was literally responsible for the success of the Food Network…”
One of Lagasse’s followers said, “Emeril Live is STILL the best cooking show for me.”
Another user noted, “Teaching all of us millennials how to cook!”
Someone else commented, “🥰🥰🥰 The Emeril that babysat me … I watched you EVERYDAY.”
Meanwhile, another fan, foodie Greg Simms, placed Lagasse in their “Mount Rushmore of American Chefs” along with Julia Child, Thomas Keller, and James Beard.
Finally, fellow chef and cookbook author Shereen Pavlides simply wrote, “Legend 🙌.”
