Food Network star Michael Symon is turning to the public with a heartfelt plea after his beloved dog Norman disappeared in California. The award-winning chef shared the news on Instagram, revealing that his6-year-old Staffy Bull Terrier went missing in Venice Beach, leaving him and his wife heartbroken.
Chef Symon Shares Emotional Instagram Plea: How to Help
Symon addressed his followers directly, sharing an emotional message:
“Dear Instagram I need your help in the largest of ways .. @normansymon disappeared last night at about 8:30 pm west coast time in Venice Beach California .. have searched high a low to no avail .. he is a 35 lb 6 year old Staffy Bull Terrier that is loved beyond words .. Venice and Instagram fam please keep a look out for.. he is very friendly so will come up to you smiling and wagging if you find him .. we are heartbroken .. as he means the world to Liz and I .. he is also microchipped with all our info .. please repost”
He shared that he and his wife, Liz, are devastated. Symon noted that Norman is friendly and likely to approach strangers with a wagging tail. He also reminded followers that the dog is microchipped with their contact information.
Symon is asking both Venice Beach residents and his broader Instagram following to stay alert for Norman. As the search continues, Symon and his family remain hopeful that their beloved companion will be located and safely brought home.

Norman joined the Symon household in 2019. At the time, Symon introduced the puppy to fans during the holiday season, writing:

Michael Symon’s Life Beyond the Kitchen
Symon, a Cleveland native, is best known for his longtime presence on Food Network, with appearances on “Iron Chef America,” “The Next Iron Chef,” and as co-host of “24 in 24: Last Chef Standing.”
He won Season 1 of “The Next Iron Chef” in 2008, securing a permanent role among the Iron Chefs. Over the years, he has also hosted “Food Feuds” and “Cook Like an Iron Chef.”
Outside of television, Symon runs several restaurants in the Midwest and has authored multiple cookbooks, including “Michael Symon’s Live to Cook: Recipes and Techniques to Rock Your Kitchen.”
