According to the police report, the investigator also discovered “suicidal” journal entries on a bed in the same room where the note was found.

The report noted that in the early morning hours of the day Burrell died, a redacted individual “married to Anne” had “noticed that the bed was made in their room which is not normal.” At the time of her death, the Food Network chef was married to Stuart Claxton, whom she met on the Bumble dating app in 2018, People reported.

According to the police report, Claxton found Burrell on the bathroom floor “with a bunch of over-the-counter pills on the floor.” When he made an attempt to wake her up by “shaking her and slapping her face,” he was unable to bring her back to consciousness and immediately called 911.

Claxton told police that his wife had “never attempted suicide in the past” and “never talked about it,” per the NYPD report. He also stated that Burrell hadn’t shown “any signs that she would do something like this.”

Five weeks after she died, Burrell’s cause of death was ruled a suicide from “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,” and was determined by the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office, TMZ reported.

Anne Burrell’s Family Remember Their Loved One as a Radiant Light

Burrell’s family released a statement following her death, describing the “Worst Cooks in America” chef as someone who lit up every room she walked into with her boisterous, loving personality.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend – her smile lit up every room she entered,” Burrell’s family said, according to the NYP. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
