Chef, restaurateur, and television personality Michael Symon took to Instagram over the weekend to pay a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Liz, on the couple’s 27th wedding anniversary.
Symon, 56, is known for appearing on popular Food Network shows like “Iron Chef America,” “Burgers, Brew and ‘Que,” “Food Feuds,” and “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” but has also appeared on shows like the Cooking Channel’s “Cook Like an Iron Chef” and ABC’s “The Chew.”
In a touching show of affection to Liz (née Shanahan), Symon shared an old photograph of her along with a lovely wholesome caption.
Michael Symon Spoke of the ‘Wild Ride’ He and Liz Have Been On
The image Symon shared of Liz is, presumably, at their wedding, as she is standing over what looks like a wedding cake, beaming, while holding a knife.
The caption accompanying the image reads, “Happy Anniversary @lizsymon / lizard / Lizzie / Lulu / buckets .. 27 years of marriage .. 32 years together .. 36 years of friendship .. what a wild ride we have had .. raising kyle .. 3 grandkids .. have opened 20 plus restaurants .. 8 tv shows ..9 books .. 15 moves .. 7 dogs .. success .. failures .. & everything in between .. hasn’t always been perfect but we always did it together & through all of it I still love you to death .. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
It was a post that really conveyed the love Symon has for his wife, and the strength their relationship must have to have endured the many key life events that have taken place throughout its ample duration.
The comments were full of love for the couple, with fellow celebrity chef Jonathon Sawyer writing, “Happy anniversary ya’ll. I love this picture of Liz so much.”
Kyle, Liz’s son, was 11 years old when Symon and his mother got married on November 1, 1998, but the chef has raised him like he would have if he was his own.
The Story of How Symon Met Liz Is Very Sweet
GettyMichael Symon has previously spoken about how he and Liz met all those years ago — and it’s an incredibly sweet story.
Speaking to host Drew Barrymore on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Symon responded to her question about how they met by saying, “In the restaurant business. So I graduated from culinary school and took a job. I’m from Cleveland. Took a job in Cleveland, Ohio. And I got hired as a cook, and the person that ran the front of the house who eventually ended up being my boss was Liz. And she ran the wine program in the front. It actually was perfect. When we met, she was my boss.”
Barrymore humorously responded by saying, “And she’s still your boss,” to which Symon replied, “And here I am all these years later.”
Barrymore then pointed out, “that’s a great way to start out: Respecting your partner,” prompting Symon to respond, “It works good for us. I think for me a relationship’s about giving. And also, you’re not always gonna get what you want. So sometimes there’s gonna be things that she really wants that I’m not down with. But she should get it and vice versa.”
We wish Michael and Liz Symon a happy 27th wedding anniversary. Long may their marriage continue to blossom.
