For HGTV star Erin Napier, Christmas has always been about family traditions, cozy moments, and simple joys.
Now, the fan-favorite TV personality is turning that holiday spirit into a charming new picture book, offering parents and kids a heartwarming story to read together every December. Although the temperature outside doesn’t reflect the holiday season just yet, Napier is already getting into the festive spirit.
Erin Napier Says ‘The Christmas House’ is About Preserving Family Traditions
Warner Bros. Discovery“Home Town” couple Erin Napier and her husband, Ben Napier, are deeply intentional about creating family traditions. They blend nostalgia, faith, and simple, grounded moments for their two daughters, Helen and Mae.
It is this concept that Napier wanted to convey in the book “The Christmas House.” The story is told from the point of view of the home during the holiday season.
The HGTV star’s twist allows the home to tell the story. It drives home just how important creating a place where happy memories can be made for all families.
“Our houses are really the keepers of our family traditions at Christmas,” Napier said to People Magazine. “This is something that becomes especially apparent once you have small children. They live for decorating the house.”
She continued, “The thing that feels so good about it that my children don’t yet have the language for, is when we do these traditions year after year, we are bringing our childhoods back to the surface. We are celebrating the people we don’t have anymore by making their recipes and hanging their stockings, and our houses are the center of all of this.”
For Erin Napier, Home is Everything
For Erin Napier, a home was never meant to be a polished showroom or a staged set for social media likes. It’s supposed to be a living, breathing vault for a family’s real story, including worn edges, messy counters, and all.
While seasonal decor is fun, her core belief is that the real magic of a house happens in the quiet, mundane moments long after the holiday lights come down. Napier told People Magazine in October 2023 upon the publication of her book “Heirloom Rooms: Soulful Stories of Home,” that its a home’s imperfections that create its beauty.
“I’ve become bored of the photos of perfectly styled and staged interiors you see so much of in the online world and wanted to create a book celebrating the imperfection of our houses,” she revealed. “How perfect and clever can our houses be seems to be the refrain of social media. But what about the life lived in those rooms?”
Napier added, “The styling can be an outward reflection of who we are and what we love. But really, our houses are the backdrops of our lives and celebrations and failures, of growing families.”
Previously, Napier’s first foray into children’s books was “The Lantern House.” It was released in May 2022.
Again, the home takes center stage in the book, telling the story of the families who each lived there and how life changes within its walls. Napier’s book demonstrates how one home can shelter generations of love, laughter, and seasonal magic.
“The Christmas House” is set for release on October 6, 2026. It’s currently available for preorder.
