More than two years after Mina Starsiak Hawk’s hit show “Good Bones” ended amid escalating issues with her mom and co-star, Karen E. Laine, nobody is more excited for Starsiak Hawk’s return to HGTV than her kids.
On January 10, 2026, the Indianapolis-based renovation expert told People that her son Jack, 7, and daughter Charlie, 5 — whom she shares with her husband, fitness trainer Steve Hawk — can’t wait to see their mom back on TV when she competes on “Rock the Block” this spring.
Mina Starsiak Hawk Says Her Family Visited ‘Rock the Block’ Set
HGTV announced in October 2025 that its seventh season of “Rock the Block” will, for the first time, feature HGTV stars past and present, paired with a celebrity partner. Starsiak Hawk, who spent eight seasons starring on “Good Bones,” will return, teaming up with former NFL star and Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis.
She told People that while she was filming in Las Vegas, her family “came out and visited and they got to see the house and the set,” noting that they “very much missed” her being on TV.
Their visit reminded the kids of having HGTV crews around, she said, and kept asking, “‘Mom, when are you going to build houses again on TV? The cameras aren’t around anymore. When are we going to do that again?'”
Before “Good Bones” ended in 2023, Starsiak Hawk’s kids — and her pregnancies — were prominently featured on the show and still make frequent appearances on her social media accounts.
She has popped up periodically on HGTV since, including on a 2024 “Good Bones” spin-off series, which she and her mom appeared on separately. Starsiak Hawk also helmed an episode of “House Hunters: All Stars” that year and served as a judge on season six of “Rock the Block” in 2025.
Mina Starsiak Hawk Says There Were Lots of ‘Shenanigans’ Among the 8 Competitors on New ‘Rock the Block’
Perennial “Rock the Block” host Ty Pennington is back for the new season of “Rock the Block,” overseeing four new duos as they each renovate identical, newly-built homes in a Las Vegas cul-de-sac, according to Deadline. They’ll have six weeks and $275,000 per team to transform one-level homes that include courtyards, multi-generational suites, and RV garages, the outlet said.
In addition to Starsiak Hawk and Davis, fans will see three other duos of HGTV stars and celebrity partners on the seventh season of “Rock the Block.”
- “Renovation Resort Showdown” star Scott McGillivray is teamed with Brooke Hogan, a designer and reality star who’s best known as late WWE star Hulk Hogan’s daughter.
- Taniya Nayak, who appeared on five seasons of “Battle on the Beach” before it was canceled in early 2025, will team up with 98 Degrees band member Drew Lachey.
- Finally, former “Survivor” winner and “Why the Heck Did I Buy This House?” star Kim Wolfe is returning, too, to compete with another “Survivor” winner, Chelsea Meissner.
Starsiak Hawk told People that among the eight competitors, “There was so much shenanigans because we all had so much fun with each other.”
She continued, “And there’s several instances where Vernon, my partner, who’s a giant ex NFL player, would just physically move someone that he didn’t want where they were. Just always messing with each other and playing around. And I’m pretty sure Brooke got a couple solid tackles of Vernon because she’s a tall lady as well.”
