Nicole Curtis is speaking out about a shocking leaked video in which she uses a racial slur, claiming she was blackmailed over the footage. The HGTV star said that after she refused to pay, the video was released online, leading to the network’s cancellation of her show “Rehab Addict.”
Nicole Curtis Opens Up About Leaked Racial Slur Video
On February 17, Curtis took to Instagram to thank those who have supported her after RadarOnline published the video.
“So many moments of kindness have come my way this week via my amazing family, my friends, my neighbors, my fans, our city leaders & A lot of folks that were in my DMs who chose to have calls with me to find a pathway of understanding in all of this,” she explained in the caption.
Curtis shared some highlights of her show’s impact over the past 15 years, including bringing “20 million dollars into distressed neighborhoods,” saving historic homes, and raising “money, awareness & change for pediatric cancer, military veterans, school programs, animal rescue, elderly.”
She noted, “As we’ve always said — you never have a bad day helping others and giving your time to those who need it. We did this all, my small crew w/o fanfare or catering — just a group of amazing, dedicated, passionate creatives who love saving beautiful works of art.”
Curtis also included a “disclaimer to those spreading misinformation,” writing that “someone personal” demanded money to prevent the footage from going public.
“4 years ago — I was not contracted to any network or show. (think free agent in sports). Any crew hired, paid by me, The footage is mine,” she wrote. “My crew didn’t steal my footage.I don’t have ‘sets.’ I own all my properties. In other words, no one is my ‘boss,’ I’m the boss. I create product & sell the rights of it & my likeness for limited contracted use.”
“Someone personal (not crew) had access, demanded $, I didn’t pay — here we are,” she added.
Curtis Apologizes: ‘I Am Filled With Remorse & Regret’
On February 12, Curtis posted an apology message on Instagram, noting in part: “There is anger, there is hate, there is pain. I’m here to take it. I haven’t been hiding, ignoring, waiting for this to pass. I’ve just been playing this all over and over again and watching the video and having this all out together to say the right thing, do the right thing after doing the wrongest of wrongs.”
She continued, “I am sorry. I am filled with remorse and regret, just as much as I was one second after that word was said 4 years ago in 2022.”
The HGTV star noted at the time that the footage was stolen from her, “edited and sold to a tabloid.”
“I show this, I say this and I realize you are getting a limited view as what has been circulating is a clip of MY footage that was stolen then manipulated, edited and sold to [a] tabloid to coincide with my return to television only to create this chaos of hate, anger, disappointment,” Curtis explained.
