Iconic HGTV Show’s Name Received Major Pushback – And the Reason Is Hilarious

“No Demo Reno,” a fan-favorite on HGTV, nearly went by a different name!

Designer Jenn Todryk and her husband, Mike Todryk, discussed the creation of the beloved series on the latest episode of their podcast, “You, Me & Mike,” in which they revealed why the name almost didn’t stick.

‘No Demo Reno’ Almost Had a Different Name

On the Thursday, March 4, episode of “You, Me & Mike,” Jenn and Mike Todryk explained that an “original executive” nearly overruled the name for the series.

“As you know, I was on a design TV show,” Jenn said. “You might have heard of it, ‘No Demo Reno.’ Sometimes pronounced ‘No Demo Reno’ in a large market,” she added, changing the pronunciation to reflect the name of the city in Northern Nevada.

“That’s because it was in Nevada, right?” Mike joked.

He went on to share that one of the original executives on the show shared his concern with the name of the show, believing that “people [were] going to think it’s a regional show located in Reno.”

“He pushed back on the name as well,” Mike added.

While ultimately the name stood, Jenn shared that her only concern was “that we do some demo,” laughing that it would throw off the title.

“I liked the name,” she said. “‘No Demo Reno’ rolls off the tongue from a marketing standpoint.”

While Mike agreed the name and idea for the show were “a genius concept,” he revealed his top name choice: “Little Demo. Big Reno.”

Is ‘No Demo Reno’ Canceled?

HGTV loyalists have been waiting more than two years for a new season of “No Demo Reno.”

Jenn shared an update on the show’s status during a September 2025 podcast episode.

“No, I did not get cancelled. The show, ‘No Demo Reno,’ did not get cancelled,” she said, responding to fan questions. “That is 100 percent the biggest DM I get, I can’t even go on Amazon Live without getting comments and and I feel so bad because I haven’t been in a place to answer it or talk about it.”

She continued, “HGTV asked for a fourth season, which is awesome, and I’m so grateful for that opportunity and the opportunity I had for all three seasons. So Discovery owned HGTV, and I went back and forth with someone with Discovery about how we could still do ‘No Demo Reno’ but make it a little more feasible for my life and the schedule…I basically had to come to the realization that I’m either all-in and I’m over everything or I don’t do it.”

According to Jenn she is simply taking a “pause” from the show, though it’s unclear if she will ever return in the same capacity.
