Fans of HGTV couple Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama know they have a very big extended family, many of whom are part of their hit show, “Renovation Aloha.” But nothing could have prepared us for the size of their family Christmas party!
On December 15, 2025, the couple posted a social media video to share their favorite holiday traditions, one of which was attending Tristyn’s “massive” family Christmas party at his mom and dad’s house. Size of the guest list? 300 to 400 people!
HGTV’s Tristyn Kalama Says Family Christmas Party Includes a Visit From Santa Claus
In the Kalamas’ video, Tristyn said, “From as far back as I can remember, the Kalama side of the family always does a massive Christmas party. And that is definitely my favorite tradition. It happens, like, the week before Christmas — 300, 400 people show up to my parents’ house.”
“So fun, lots of food,” Kamohai interjected, before Tristyn continued, “All the kids sit down and we have a Santa Claus come out and pass out presents. Full potluck style, like crazy good times. So that’s definitely mine.”
Kamohai then added that among their other favorite holiday traditions at home was setting up their Christmas trees before Thanksgiving because “we normally have family over for Thanksgiving, so I like it to feel festive.”
“Now that we have our fake Christmas trees, it’s so easy,” she continued. “And we watch ‘The Santa Clause’ with Tim Allen!”
Fans Get a Glimpse Inside the Kalama Family’s 2025 Christmas Party
On December 21, Kamohai posted follow-up photos from his family’s 2025 party, revealing a sea of people in an open air space at his parents’ house, captioning it “Kalama Christmas Party 2025 #melekalikimaka #familytime”
Many fans couldn’t get over how huge the family party was, including one who quipped, “That’s just ridiculous 😂! Looks amazing” and Kamohai replied, “not even close to all of us lol”
He reiterated that point to another fan who commented on the large gathering, telling her, “we still need the rest of the family lol so many missing”
When another fan wrote, “Pure fun! What a wonderful tradition 🎄,” Kamohai responded, “the best”
HGTV’s ‘Renovation Aloha’ Duo Reveals Their Christmas Preferences
On December 22, the Kalamas posted another fun video as they played the game “This or That Christmas.” When given the choice of a beach Christmas or a snow Christmas, the native Hawaiians both chose a snow Christmas (they love taking their two kids to Utah for ski trips!).
Given a choice between Christmas lights and Christmas music, they both chose lights — though it took Kamohai a few beats to decide, explaining, “That depends, though. You know, you feel in the mood for music sometimes!”
As for real or fake Christmas trees, the Kalamas quickly answered “fake tree!” And would they rather host or go somewhere else for a holiday get-together? The couple practically shouted “going somewhere else!”
When the Kalamas aren’t celebrating the holidays, they’re filming the next season of “Renovation Aloha,” expected to premiere in 2026.
