Rock the Block’s Scott McGillivray Shares Unfiltered Reaction to Season 7 Finale (Spoiler Alert)

Rock the Block” season 7 left fans in disbelief when HGTV‘s Drew and Jonathan Scott revealed the winners of the beloved competition series.

“Why the Heck Did I Buy This House?” star Kim Wolfe and former “Survivor” winner Chelsea Meissner were crowned the winners of season 7. While many fans disagreed with the appraisers’ assessment, Scott McGillivray shared his unfiltered reaction to social media.

Scott McGillivray Reacts to ‘Rock the Block’ Loss

It seems McGillivray — who was partnered with designer Brooke Hogan — agreed with many viewers’ reactions.

The “Renovation Resort” star took to social media after the Monday, May 25, finale to share his opinion.

“I wanted to have a candid conversation about some of the things going on right now,” McGillivray began. “There’s been a lot of feedback, and I appreciate that. But I wanted to address three of the things that everybody seems to be talking about. One of those things is the outcome of ‘Rock the Block.'”

He continued, “How do you feel about the winning announcement? And the biggest, most controversial part being that I didn’t win.”

McGillivray insisted that he and Hogan “worked hard” throughout the competition.

“We won the primary bedroom. We won the main bathroom. We won the walk-in closet challenge. We won the kitchen and the morning room,” he said. “These are the biggest, most value-add spaces in the house. We won all of those, but we didn’t win the entire overall appraisal value.”

He went on to praise his partner, calling the former reality star “super talented, really funny, and friendly.”

Scott McGillivray’s Dream HGTV Co-Star

During a recent appearance on Alison Victoria’s “Pap Smear” podcast, McGillivray dished on his dream HGTV co-star, and why it never happened.

“I was a fan of yours immediately,” McGillivray said of meeting the “Windy City Rehab” alum more than a decade ago. “You know, and it’s like our journeys just took us in two different paths. Like you started doing your shows. I kept doing my shows. We would see each other at events here and there, but we’re always being pulled in a million directions.”

He continued, “Then, like five years ago, I was pitching a show to the network, and they’re like, ‘Who is the number one talent that you would put on this show with you?’ And I said, ‘Alison Victoria. 100 percent.'”

Unfortunately for both McGillivray and Victoria, the dream partnership never came to fruition.

“So, I pitched it to the network. You know what it actually was? I pitched it to the network, and they loved it. And then we pitched it as ‘Dirty Demo,'” he said of his show, later renamed “Renovation Resort.”

When the pandemic struck in 2020, the plans fell through and Brian Baeumler was cast as McGillivray’s co-star.

“You mean to tell me that we could have kicked Brian to the curb?” Victoria asked.

“He would have been our guest judge,” McGillivray joked.

The jury is still out on whether McGillivray and the “Sin City Rehab” star will ever land a renovation series together at the network.
