Ty Pennington Calls ‘Rock the Block’ Season 7 the ‘Most Difficult Season’ Ahead of Finale

The “Rock the Block” season 7 finale premieres this week, and HGTV star Ty Pennington definitely has some opinions.

Each viewer has their favorite team, and at this point, anyone could win. See what the host has to say about the “most difficult season” yet and what fans should expect.

‘Rock the Block’ Host Ty Pennington Teases the Season 7 Finale

The “Rock the Block” season 7 finale airs this week and it’s still anyone’s game. While fans wait to see how the final episode plays out, host Ty Pennington teases what viewers can expect to see.

“As far as this cul-de-sac, each of these houses may have an identical layout, but they’re all so different. But they’re all so good. So, I can honestly say this could be the most difficult season to judge who won,” Pennington shared with TV Insider ahead of the upcoming finale. “We’re talking about value. Yes, does that mean bathrooms? Does that mean extra bedrooms? But doesn’t it also mean design and creativity?”

At the end of the day, a team of expert appraisers will decide which team created the most value for their renovation project.

“Thank god, because I don’t know who I would say. They’re all so good,” the host admitted. “Every competition, it’s kind of hard to say. We’ve all looked at it, and I’ve been like, ‘I’m not sure if I would have gone with that one, or if I would have gone with this one.’ So, I think it’s going to be a really good finale. That’s all I can say, is it’s gonna be big.”

The 61-year-old believes the future homeowners will ultimately be the biggest winners.

“I think whoever ends up with those houses in that neighborhood has got a solid win. Those are all fantastic houses,” Pennington told the outlet about the Las Vegas properties.

The “Rock the Block” Host Comments on What Made This Season Special

As with every reality competition show, “Rock the Block” shook things up a bit for the seventh season. This year, celebrities teamed up with HGTV personalities to create the hottest home on the block.

Ty Pennington admits he isn’t sure whether this new format will make it to season 8 or not. But either way, viewers can always expect something new and creative from the executive team at HGTV.

“I do know that having that wildcard element is kind of spicy. It’s kind of awesome because you don’t know what you’re going to get,” the host told TV Insider. “It’s like a variety pack of cereal. You’re like, ‘Ooh. What’s in this season?’ So, that’s a really good question. I like the unexpectedness of it. Look, I’m a TV guy, so anytime even I can be surprised, that’s a good thing to me.”

Overall, Pennington believes that the celebrity guests made the competition truly exciting.

“Who knew that Drew Lachey could work heavy machinery like that? And not to mention, he’s such a great tile guy. Who knew Brooke Hogan was going to be so funny, and also, just an emotional roller coaster every day?” the host said of the celebrity contestants.

Fans can catch the highly anticipated “Rock the Block” season 7 finale on HGTV starting at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, May 25.
