“Rock the Block” partners Brooke Hogan and Scott McGillivray have gotten very close during filming for the HGTV competition series. However, according to the former reality star, McGillivray simply reminds her of her late father, WWE legend Hulk Hogan.
Brooke Hogan’s Relationship With Scott McGillivray
During the Monday, March 4, episode of “Rock the Block,” Hogan got ahead of rumors surrounding her friendly relationship with McGillivray.
“Scott and I have become very close, very fast,” Hogan said, according to People. “I’m sure a lot of people watching us will think that there’s something going on. But really the affection I have for him is a mixture of things. There’s a little bit of like a daddy complex happening here where I feel safe and protected by you, and I trust you and you give good advice.”
She added, “And, you know, his hugs feel like a dad hug, you know?”
Hogan, who has been married to husband Steven Oleksy since June 2022, previously shut down rumors regarding their relationship.
“People looooove to speculate. There’s been a lot of people commenting on posts of me and Scott suggesting we have a ‘thing’ going on,” she shared via Instagram on April 28. “And honestly, it’s just mean and hateful. (But sorry we’re so funny and adorable on camera😌). So for those people — I’ll just leave you with these pictures of Scott and my husband.”
“If you’re worried about anyone, worry about my hockey player husband stealing his sweet Canadian heart,” Hogan added.
Brooke Hogan’s TV Return
After losing her father, Hulk Hogan, suddenly in July 2025, Brooke revealed that his passing led to her decision to join the HGTV series.
“It was a weird call to get in a weird time in life,” Hogan told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published in November 2025. “I was estranged from my family. I had asked to be removed from my father’s will.”
She continued, “My dad and I always had a really good relationship. There was nothing that he could have done that would have made me not love him. At the same time, I got pregnant with twins. Super blessing from God but — it’s crazy, but so awesome.”
Brooke explained that after moving to Nashville, she went back to work as a waitress to earn extra money after her reality TV income dried up.
“Filming money doesn’t last forever. No shame in my game. Money is money,” she said. “And then I started my design business. I was doing OK, but it was hard to get off the ground. I did it really, truly on my own. No startup money, no help from my parents.”
Hulk Hogan died at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on July 24, 2025, while recovering from surgery.
“It was just a really crazy turn of events. But what’s nuts is, you know, you see all these people online that are like, ‘Oh, now that her dad’s passed away. Now she’s like soaking up the fame,'” Brooke told ET. “We had this ‘Rock the Block’ deal months before that happened.”
