HGTV Star Reveals How Her Father’s Passing Led to Her TV Return

“Rock the Block” star Brooke Hogan revealed how the death of her father, former WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan, passing led to her decision to join the HGTV series.

Brooke Hogan’s Decision to Return to HGTV

HGTV announced it was shaking things up for season 7 of “Rock the Block,” adding a fun celebrity twist. The show’s design pros will be paired with Hollywood stars in the upcoming season.

One of those stars is the “Hogan Knows Best” alum, who is paired with “Renovation Resort Showdown” star Scott McGillivray.

“It was a weird call to get in a weird time in life,” Hogan told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published Friday, November 14. “I was estranged from my family. I had asked to be removed from my father’s will.”

The former singer explained that the fallout with her father was due to his decision to marry third wife Sky Daily.

“My dad and I always had a really good relationship. There was nothing that he could have done that would have made me not love him,” she explained. “At the same time, I got pregnant with twins. Super blessing from God but — it’s crazy, but so awesome.”

She went on to say that after gaining fame in her teens, she went back to work as a waitress following a move to Nashville.

“Filming money doesn’t last forever,” Hogan said. “No shame in my game. Money is money. And then I started my design business. I was doing OK, but it was hard to get off the ground. I did it really, truly on my own. No startup money, no help from my parents.”

According to Brooke, shortly after her business took off, her father passed away.

Hulk passed away at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on July 24, 2025. His cause of death was later determined as a heart attack. Hulk was 71.

“It was just a really crazy turn of events. But what’s nuts is, you know, you see all these people online that are like, ‘Oh, now that her dad’s passed away. Now she’s like soaking up the fame,'” Brooke told ET. “We had this ‘Rock the Block’ deal months before that happened.”

‘Rock the Block’ Returns for Season 7

Hogan’s partner, McGillivray, told Entertainment Tonight that he was skeptical of being teamed up with the former reality star.

“You could not have taken two more wildly different individuals and asked us to work together and try to win the whole thing,” he said. “I underestimated you at first.”

In addition to Hogan, 98 Degrees star Drew Lachey will be partnered with “Battle on the Beach” star Taniya Nayak, NFL star Vernon Davis will join “Good Bones” alum Mina Starsiak Hawk, and “Survivor” alum Chelsea Meissner will be partnered with “Why the Heck Did I Buy This House?” host Kim Wolfe.
