Kim Kardashian is pressing pause on her beauty empire. The reality star and entrepreneur has officially shut down her skincare and makeup brand SKKN by Kim, just three years after its buzzy debut, confirming the closure with a heartfelt message to fans.

While this chapter is coming to a close, the commitment to innovation, self-care, and skin confidence that SKKN embodied will live on in new and exciting ways.”
Skims Takes Center Stage
The move comes as Kardashian streamlines her business under Skims, her $4 billion shapewear and clothing brand. In March, Skims acquired both her majority stake and Coty’s 20% share in SKKN.
Coty later reported a $71.1 million loss on the sale, after previously investing $200 million in Kardashian’s earlier beauty venture, KKW Beauty.
A Bumpy Road for SKKN
(Photo by Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images)SKKN debuted with a nine-step skincare regimen priced at more than $600, a launch that drew skepticism even from Kardashian’s fans. Bethenny Frankel publicly critiqued the line on TikTok, calling it “a rich person’s game.”
In 2024, Kardashian tried to revive interest with a SKKN makeup relaunch that featured lip liners, powders, and an eyeshadow palette. But despite her global influence, the line never matched the cultural ubiquity of Skims, which has expanded into loungewear, swimwear, menswear, and retail stores worldwide.
What’s Next: Skims Beauty
While SKKN has officially closed, Kardashian isn’t stepping away from the beauty industry. Industry insiders say Skims Beauty is set to launch in 2026, uniting fashion and beauty under one powerhouse brand. With Skims generating more than $750 million in revenue by 2023 (As per New York Times) and still expanding, the move could position Kardashian for another shot at beauty domination.
For now, fans will have to wait and see if she can translate her shapewear success into a full-fledged beauty empire.
Even as SKKN winds down, Kardashian continues to expand her Skims empire. On August 27, the brand unveiled its latest product drop, Milky Sheer intimates, with new photos of Kardashian modeling the collection.
In the Instagram announcement, the 44-year-old wore the Milky Sheer String Bikini, a sheer black design embroidered with the word “Curious.” The underwear set, sold in packs of three for $64, features additional phrases including “Feelings” and “Temptation.”
She paired the look with a cotton jersey long-sleeve T-shirt in the shade of soot. The launch followed the Aug. 26 announcement that new pieces from Skims’ Essentials line would also arrive on Aug. 27, promising “new styles and fresh colors in your favorite SKIMS fabrics.”
