Johnny Knoxville Makes a Major Announcement About the Future of ‘Jackass’

Johnny Knoxville is officially closing the chapter on one of the most outrageous comedy franchises in film history.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the actor and filmmaker confirmed that the upcoming “Jackass 5” will be the final movie in the long-running series.

‘Jackass’ Is Coming to an End

“Jackass 5 will be the last one,” Knoxville said. “This is the natural place to end.”

He even poked fun at the film’s premise, joking, “So it’s going to be absolutely awful,” before adding that the movie “never was a good idea! It was just fun. You know how you have ideas that are terrible but are fun? This would be that.”

Knoxville first announced his involvement in the Jeff Tremaine–directed project earlier this year, posting the film’s logo and release date on social media.

“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th.🎉❤️🎉 More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!” he shared to social media.

His longtime collaborator Steve-O was quick to celebrate the news in the comments, writing, “Yeah dude!!!”

The original cast — including Knoxville, Steve-O, Dave England, Wee Man, Chris Pontius and Preston Lacy — first made their mark on MTV in 2000 before turning their chaotic stunts into blockbuster films.

They last reunited for “Jackass Forever,” which arrived in theaters in 2022.

Knoxville Dishes on What’s Next

Looking back, Knoxville admitted some of the group’s wildest ideas were never exactly smart — but that was part of the appeal.

When asked about animals he’s worked with onscreen, he mentioned bulls as being his favorite animal to work with, which famously injured him while filming the fourth movie.

“Because they hate you. They absolutely hate you, and you’re going to get footage guaranteed. And I don’t have to do anything. All I have to do is stand in one spot and [then] move,” he told the outlet.

Despite the risk, Knoxville said the unpredictable nature of the stunts made for unforgettable footage.

As the franchise prepares for its final installment, Knoxville says his focus is shifting toward a quieter life off camera.

“Same thing I do day-to-day,” he explained. “Be a dad, play with our crazy dog, hang out with my wife, work a little.”

The star recently married costume designer Emily Ting and shares three children from previous relationships.

While he’s not ruling out future creative projects, Knoxville suggested that saying goodbye to Jackass feels right after more than two decades of broken bones, viral moments and unforgettable laughs.
