Barry Manilow Cancels More Shows Amid Lung Cancer Treatment

Barry Manilow has canceled two more Las Vegas performances after his latest residency show came to an unexpected early end. The Independent reported on Friday, August 21, that the Grammy-winning singer, 83, performed for about 40 minutes at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on Thursday, August 20, before the show was stopped because of what was described as “technical difficulties.”By Friday, August 21, fans learned that Manilow would not return to the stage that night or Saturday. “We’re very sorry, but we have to cancel tonight and tomorrow’s performances,” a statement posted to Manilow’s Instagram read.

“Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show.”Fans were told in the comments that refunds would be processed automatically.

Why Did Barry Manilow Cancel His Las Vegas Shows?

The latest cancellations come during a difficult year for Manilow, who revealed in December 2025 that doctors had found lung cancer, as per CBS News.

The singer has not said that his cancer treatment caused this week’s cancellations. His team specifically cited vocal and technical issues when announcing the canceled Friday and Saturday performances.

Manilow has performed his The Hits Come Home! residency at the Westgate since May 2018. According to Independent, his Thursday performance was halted after roughly 40 minutes.

Barry Manilow Previously Postponed Shows During Cancer Recovery

Manilow underwent surgery earlier this year to remove a cancerous tumor from his left lung, forcing him to postpone several performances while he recovered.

When he announced the diagnosis in December, he credited his doctor and an MRI with catching the cancer early.

“It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” Manilow wrote on Facebook at the time. “That’s the good news.”

His scheduled Las Vegas performances from February 12 through February 21 were later pushed back as he recovered from the operation. Earlier this month, Manilow also postponed a concert at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, shortly before he was scheduled to take the stage.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s show in Lexington has been rescheduled,” a statement shared on his Instagram account said. A new date has not been announced yet.

What Has Barry Manilow Said About His Lung Cancer?

Speaking to People in March, Manilow described the experience as “a nightmare,” though he said doctors had given him some encouraging news about his treatment.

“I’m one of the lucky ones; I don’t have to have chemo, radiation and all that stuff,” he said.

The diagnosis also prompted the singer to reflect on his life and six-decade career. “This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend?” he said. “All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks.”

“And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought.”

Barry Manilow Has Spent More Than 60 Years Making Music

Manilow has released more than 30 studio albums over a career spanning six decades.

His 1978 album Even Now included several of his signature songs, including “Copacabana,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” “Even Now” and “Somewhere in the Night.”

Other hits include “Mandy,” “Could It Be Magic” and “Somewhere Down the Road.”

Despite the latest cancellations, no additional changes to Manilow’s Las Vegas residency schedule had been announced as of Saturday, August 22.
