Music legend Barry Manilow is choosing to slow down and focus on his health as he continues his recovery following cancer surgery. The legendary singer, 82, shared that he will be postponing his upcoming Las Vegas shows after receiving guidance from his doctor.
Barry Manilow Explains Decision to Postpone Las Vegas Shows in Health Update
In a message shared on his official Facebook account on May 1, Manilow took a moment to connect with fans, offering a reassuring update as he focuses on his recovery.
“Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I’m making great progress and look great! All the training and exercising I’ve put in is paying off. He did say, however, that I’m not quite ready for Vegas. This means I won’t be able to return for our May shows at Westgate Las Vegas,” he wrote.
A Look at His Ongoing Recovery Journey
Manilow has been focusing on his recovery after undergoing a lobectomy in December 2025, following a diagnosis of stage 1 lung cancer the month before.
At the time, he shared how the diagnosis came unexpectedly after a prolonged period of illness.
“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” he shared with his fans in December 2025.
“Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure that everything was OK.”

The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”
Despite the news, Manilow emphasized the importance of early detection and remained optimistic about his path forward.
“It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news,” he added.
Plans to Return to the Stage in the Months Ahead
GettyWhile his Las Vegas residency remains on pause, Manilow reassured fans that he is still looking ahead to the stage, taking things one step at a time.
According to his update, he plans to move forward with his arena shows in the United Kingdom this June, with hopes of returning to Las Vegas soon after.
“The Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home, and I’ll see you all in July,” he shared, as reported by Billboard.
His residency at the Westgate Resort & Casino is currently scheduled to run through December 2026, with rescheduled dates for his “The Last Concerts” tour still in place.
In the months since his diagnosis, Manilow has also spoken openly about how the experience has reshaped his perspective, bringing a deeper sense of reflection to his life and career.
“You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is]. And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here — they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’” he shared in a recent interview with People.
The moment led him to pause and look inward in ways he had not before.
“It has really, really made me take stock of my life,” he said. “This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too.”
