Anne-Marie shared a hopeful update on Biafra’s condition, noting that his recovery has exceeded early expectations and that he is preparing for the next stage of care at home.

“Jello is improving every day. The various therapists are really happy with his progress. On Sunday, he is leaving the hospital, but he will still require at-home therapy and will need a caregiver. Overall, the recovery is better than we had hoped. Thank you to everyone who has sent love and support. It has definitely helped. Much gratitude, Anne-Marie.”

Frantic Moment Led to Stroke Diagnosis

The 67-year-old musician, best known as the former frontman of “Dead Kennedys,” previously recalled the frightening moment his symptoms first appeared.

In his account, Biafra said he suddenly lost control of the left side of his body and collapsed shortly after getting out of bed.

“I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me, and I fell to the floor. I couldn’t even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn’t working either,” he said.

The realization set in quickly as he struggled to get back up.

“I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn’t. I realized I had ‘fallen, and I can’t get up!’”

“It was this point I thought, ‘Oh [expletive], I’m having a stroke,” he continued.

Since being hospitalized, Biafra has remained focused on his recovery and the work ahead.

“I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta rehabbing to do,” he shared after suffering the stroke.

A statement released through Alternative Tentacles Records confirmed that he has been in stable condition while receiving medical care.

Those close to him expressed relief that he was able to get help quickly, saying, “Speaking for the Alternative Tentacles family, we are all just very thankful he is okay and getting the care that he needs.”

Following news of his condition, fans and fellow musicians flooded social media with messages of support.

Many shared personal stories of recovery and offered encouragement as Biafra begins the next phase of rehabilitation at home.

Due to his health condition, previously scheduled tour dates have been canceled as he focuses on healing.
