Jeremy Allen White is a fantastic actor, and he recently discussed how an experience that Bruce Springsteen had helped him to find a connection to his new film, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere”.
White plays the role of the iconic “My Hometown” singer. The film premiered on Sunday, September 28, at the New York Film Festival. In an interview with People, White revealed how he approached the film and what he learned about Springsteen.
How Jeremy Allen White Approached Springsteen Biopic
“Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” focuses on a time when the musician was recording his album “Nebraska.” The album was released on September 30, 1982. It may seem like an odd time for the biopic to focus on, as it was not Springsteen’s debut album; it was his sixth studio album. White revealed he wanted answers about the period and had a discussion with Springsteen to get a better insight.
White said he “asked Bruce really directly, ‘Why this film? Why this period?’ And even what happened on this journey, on this road trip in really specific moments. And he was immediately so honest.” The musician then revealed something vulnerable to White, which resonated with him: Springsteen had suffered from a panic attack.
Jeremy Allen White Discusses Bruce Springsteen Connection

In his interview, White recalled how Springsteen had spoken to him about a panic attack he’d had. “He described it to me as in this moment he felt like he was like a voyeur in his own life,” White said. “He was an observer. He felt so outside of himself, and he told me that story, and that’s a feeling I’m familiar with.”
It was not the panic attack itself that resonated with White, but rather the way Springsteen had spoken about the incident and how he felt removed from the situation. This was something that White had experienced in his own life. “I think I’m always trying to find some presence in my own life, and I worked very hard at it every day,” he shared. “And when he told me that story and made me familiar with that feeling, I knew there was a tether that I could explore there.”
Springsteen did more than have a conversation with White, before he transformed into the legendary musician. He was also on the set of his biopic multiple times, People reports. This indicates his investment in the biopic and perhaps his quest to ensure it is as accurate as possible. “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” is set for release on October 24, 2025.
