“Pink Pony Club” by 27-year-old Chappell Roan was one song everyone couldn’t stop singing this year, and Keith Urban is no exception. The country megastar has played the hit a number of times, most recently at a private party in Palm Beach.
Page Six says the party where Urban performed the tune took place on Saturday, November 15, and he also covered Bob Marley’s song “Is This Love” during the appearance.
The song is the biggest hit yet from Chappell Roan, who won the 2025 Grammy for “Best New Artist” in February. But what many don’t know is that the song, which gained mainstream popularity in 2024, was actually released back in 2020. Roan was initially discouraged by her former label, Atlantic, from releasing the song, per Rolling Stone.
In the story, Roan explained she always had faith in the song, which organically gained streams and social media popularity over time until becoming a worldwide phenomenon. “To know that my gut instinct was right is the best feeling in the world,” she said.
Keith Urban’s Acoustic Version of ‘Pink Pony Club’
Urban recorded an intimate acoustic version of the song six months ago, which blew fans away. One reacted, “It’s the best cover I’ve seen of the song.”
Another praised the way he sang the lyric, “On the stage in my heels,” writing, “It still gives me chills. Wow, what a voice. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him sing before, but now I’m interested.”
‘Pink Pony Club’ and ‘You’ll Think Of Me’ Mashup
During a June 27 stage performance at the Blossom Music Center, Urban combined his 2002 hit “You’ll Think of Me” with Roan’s pop ballad to create an unforgettable mashup.
The performance came a little over three months prior to the announcement of Urban’s split with Nicole Kidman.
Page Six says the 58-year-old told one outlet he “almost cried” when he first heard the song, and went on to explain why he finds it so relatable. “Who doesn’t want to find a safe place, wherever that is? You just want to find your people. It doesn’t matter what that is, just somewhere where you finally realize you belong there.”
Roan’s performance at the Grammys had lots of big names in music singing along. “Make Me Feel” singer Janelle Monae looked especially passionate as she belted the lyrics from the crowd while dancing along. Alicia Keys and John Legend were two more names who appeared enthusiastic during the clown-themed set that stole the show.
