Celine Dion made a long-awaited return to the public eye when she was photographed in Paris, France, for the first time in years. Fans have been excited to see their favorite star make a comeback, and Dion appeared happy and healthy as she waved to fans outside her hotel on Monday, August 31.
Celine Dion Makes Rare Public Appearance
In photos obtained by Daily Mail, Dion smiles, waves, and holds her hand over her heart as she is overwhelmed by emotion after leaving the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris. She wore black culottes, a black top, and an olive green crocodile-skin leather jacket, paired with knee-high black boots. Seeing her look so healthy is great news for fans, as Dion has struggled with her health, revealing she was diagnosed with the neurological disorder stiff person syndrome (SPS) in 2022.
Dion is in Paris for a residency, starting on September 12, 2026, and running until October 17, 2026. She will perform again from May 8, 2027, until May 29, 2027. The “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” singer announced the dates in an Instagram post on August 13. “The countdown to the Paris 2026-2027 residency is on. As opening night inches closer, we want to hear from you…,” she wrote in the caption. “Which song are you hoping to hear live, or what moment are you most looking forward to experiencing?”
Fans flooded the comment section with their thoughts, offering song suggestions and praising the singer for her return. “Any note you sing will be a gift from above!” a comment reads. “I will be front row with my whole family!!!” another fan stated. Fans are also begging for more concert dates to be released so they, too, can see Dion perform.
“Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi also commented, writing, “I wish I was going.”
Celine Dion Embraces Nature on Her Healing Journey
Dion’s comeback will be her second performance in six years, Daily Mail reports. She canceled her world tour three years ago due to health struggles. In 2024, Dion performed “L’Hymne à L’Amour” by Edith Piaf at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
She is now healthy enough to return to the stage. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar for its September 2026 edition, published on August 18, Dion gave insight into her health. Of struggling with stiff person syndrome, she said, “It is a progressive condition. I don’t like to say ‘disease.’”
Before Dion had an official diagnosis, she experienced symptoms of her condition, which occurred as early as 2020. During this time, she had to cancel shows, disappointing fans. She also disappeared from the public eye, isolating herself and embracing nature because she didn’t want her fans to think she was well and happy while canceling shows.
“I love trees so much, and I had this vision of myself trying to disappear through the leaves,” she said. “I was trying to tell them, I’m sorry, I don’t have any apples to give you anymore.” Then she heard a voice: ‘But we did not come for the apples; we came for the tree.’” The publication describes this moment for Dion as a “true revelation.” Her return to the spotlight is welcomed by fans, and will hopefully not be the last time she performs.
