Italian singer Laura Pausini was about to close her show on the night of May 21 when fire alarms went off, causing fans to be evacuated mid-performance.
The sudden incident happened during the “Víveme” singer’s performance at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, on May 21, according to local Orlando outlets, including WESH and News 6.
“I’m very sad about it,” Pausini shared on social media shortly after.
No injuries were reported.
What Happened at Laura Pausini’s Concert in Orlando?
On May 21, fire alarms went off near the end of Pausini’s concert as she was about to perform a cover of Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” News 6 reports.
The fire alarms went off during the last 15 minutes of the show. It was a false alarm, outlets reported.
“In just a moment it all switched and suddenly we’re all rushing out of the building,” Angel D’Angelo, a fan who attended the Thursday night concert told News 6.

News 6 says a spokesperson from the Orlando Fire Department said they responded to a smoke alarm, but they found “no fire” and “no hazard.”
“Because I didn’t know what was happening and we do live in quite scary times, it could’ve been anything,” D’Angelo told the outlet. “So I wanted to be as far away from the building as possible. I wasn’t sticking around to find out.”

They bonded over the artist during their first date and during the performance, D’Angelo told News 6 his boyfriend proposed to him.
About 20 minutes later, Ricky Martin’s face appeared on the screen as Pausini was set to perform “Livin’ La Vida Loca.”
“We’re like, “How perfect is this? We just get engaged. One of the most iconic gay artists in the world is about to come out and perform,” D’Angelo told the outlet. “And then I look and I see on the side screen, and it says ‘Emergency, calmly proceed to the nearest exit.’”
