Although the recovery journey has been far from easy, Mahomes has been working hard in a rehabilitation program, and her trainer, Kirsty Rae, wanted to celebrate her achievements in an Instagram Story shared on Monday, January 5.

“Almost a year and a half, rehabbing a broken back meant severe pain and limited movement,” Rae wrote over a video of Mahomes working out, including doing gym squats, Us Weekly reports. “Now, almost a year postpartum and progressively getting stronger every week.” Rae continued, “Proof that the body is capable of incredible things when you meet it with patience and intentional training. So proud of you @brittanylynne.” She ended the message with a white heart emoji.

Mahomes shared the post to her own Instagram Story, letting her followers see all that she has accomplished.

Rae is passionate about fitness and what it can do for the body, and on January 6, she shared a video on Instagram with her followers offering them advice. “My number one piece of fitness advice is to find a community or a place that empowers you. not just somewhere you go to work out, but somewhere you feel supported, encouraged, and challenged,” she wrote in the caption. “When you’re surrounded by people who genuinely cheer you on and want to see you win, the confidence and strength you build in the gym carries into every part of your life.”

She encouraged followers to make this their goal for 2026.

It is a welcome update after Mahomes previously shared she had fractured her back. In March 2024, she wanted to remind fans of taking care of their pelvic floor, especially after giving birth. At the time, she was a mom to daughter, Sterling, and son, Bronze. In January 2025, she gave birth to her and Patrick Mahomes’ third child, a daughter, Golden.

“Just a daily reminder. Once you have kids, please take care of your pelvic floor. Seriously,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time, Us Weekly reports. “From: A girl with a fractured back.” At the time, she did not reveal what had caused her injury or the severity of it, but a fractured back is understandably serious.

In a May 2024 interview with E! News, Mahomes offered an update on her back. “I’m doing great,” she said. “I’m living my best life. My back is no longer broken, so that’s good.” She also shared that she had returned to the gym. “I’m finally fully recovered and back to doing the things that I’ve always been able to do. I’m staying on top of my health,” she said.
