Christopher Meloni is sharing an emotional farewell to “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” opening up with fans as the series comes to an end. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday, April 16, Meloni appeared visibly emotional while reacting to the news that the show will not return after five seasons.
Meloni Reflects on ‘Good Ride’ as Elliot Stabler
“Hey, everyone, I just saw that they announced OC, Organized Crime, won’t be coming back,” Meloni said.
“So I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans, who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back.”
Meloni, 65, grew visibly emotional as he reflected on his time playing Elliot Stabler.
NBC“Good ride,” he added, as his eyes appeared to well up. “It was a good ride, I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride, but thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of. Nearly 17 odd years.”
The actor’s message marked a heartfelt goodbye to a role that has defined much of his career.
‘Organized Crime’ Ends After Five Seasons
“Law & Order: Organized Crime” debuted in 2021, bringing Elliot Stabler back to the screen, a character Meloni first introduced on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
NBCThe series followed Stabler’s return to New York after years away, as he worked to rebuild his life following a personal loss and formed a partnership with Sgt. Ayanna Bell in the Organized Crime Control Bureau.
Across five seasons, Meloni appeared in 75 episodes alongside Ainsley Seiger, Danielle Moné Truitt, and Rick Gonzalez.
The show concluded its run in June 2025 and will not be returning for another season.
A Role That Always Felt Like Home
NBCMeloni has long spoken about his connection to Stabler, describing the role as something that has remained close to him even after all these years.
“It is a place I know very well, and yet I’m not tired of doing. It’s good storytelling with people that I like to work with. When they asked me to do OC, I’d never had this feeling. It was a little bit like going home,” he said in a past interview, as per NBC.
He first took on the role in 1999 on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and remained with the series for 12 seasons before stepping away in 2012.
For Meloni, the end of “Organized Crime” feels like the closing of a meaningful chapter, one that has been closely tied to both his career and the fans who have followed him along the way.
